I've decided it's time to let go of my beloved syncro. This car was my daily driver for many years. These days it spends most of it's time in the garage. It needs to go to a good home. (I'm talking to you, SYNCRONIZED list) The Quantum Syncro is a very rare Volkswagen, which I recommend for the enthusiast only. It is very similar to the Audi 4000 Quattro of the same generation, but some parts are unique and hard to come by. The Syncro was one of the first all-wheel-drive cars. It also has manual locking differentials (center and rear), which makes it almost unstoppable in the the winter. Having some fun (second car): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNY8hybDgXs Approx 220K, suspension, drivetrain, etc, kept up to snuff. At about 100K had full suspension rebuild. Not quite daily driver condition, but should make few hundred mile trip. cons: Rust: needs driver's side door (My buddy backed into it, and it had some rust at the bottom, so I gave it a quick bondo jobon bottom to get through inspection)one side rear bumper trim bracket pulled out and rusted (fairly minor repair)otherwise minimal rust. It was garage kept most of it's life.water infiltration -- been getting some water behind/under driver's seat, through window seals, no doubt. cracked windshield (6 in crack on pass side). Still passes WV inspection. (I have an extra windshield to include)interior door panel corners peeling badly.electrical slow leak. This might be nothing, but if it sits for a week, it won't start.Speedometer cable just broke. Pros: electric sunroof (works) electric heated mirrors (work)electric windows (windows all work well, but switches are marginal) Sport seats (ok shape)new clutch master cylinder, new clutch hose.brakes good.Brake cables marginal (work OK, but sometimes drag. This might clear up with some use though)diff locks not working, but probably just disconnected vac line. The servos had been replaced about 5 yrs ago.good tires with pretty good rims (original blue snowflakes)no firewall tear (common issue)no accidents (I just saw on the free report, that it does list an accident from before I had it. It must have been insignificant.) dash in good shapenew(ish) battery
