Vehicle Detail
I am relisting my car after pulling it before - it started idling rough and I didn't want to sell that way. New wires, distributor, rotor and fuel filter and it's running like a champ! So back to the listing... For your consideration is my fantastically clean 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC pillarless coupe VIN WDBCA45EXMA584797 with incredible service records detailing a full history of maintenance from day one and totaling over $20,000 since 1995 (31,000 miles). This is an outstanding driver with all of the modern equipment you would expect - and then some! This rare car is one of just over 2000 imported in 1991, which was the last year of production and is generally regarded as the best!! This particular automobile has the distinction of being not only fastidiously maintained but has been driven an average of only 13,000 miles per year. This is a great driving 560SEC that has lots of life left. The miles are traceable via the detailed records (I have a spresadsheet I can send interested bidders) and the Autocheck report. Close inspection reveals that the front left fender was replaced early in the car's life, but with a *factory* (DOT-R) panel and refinished to a high standard. As with any Mercedes SEC coupe, it is fully equipped with power steering, power brakes, cruise control, climate control, AM/FM cassette (with trunk-mounted CD changer), telescoping steering wheel, power front, sunroof, and rear defroster. Unusually, the cruise seems to work perfectly! Despite the high miles, the condition of this car speaks volumes as to the fact that it was cared for continually over the years - and shows that it was clearly garaged until very recently. Please examine the detailed pictures. This car - "Sadie" - was not just someone's means of transportation, it was their pride and joy. What sets this car apart from other SECs you might consider is clean body, excellent interior, and of course the extensive service history. The car is simply a pleasure to own and drive. The car is finished in 040 Black paint with coordinating Palomino leather interior. The condition of the paint is good but does show some wear and minor oxidation. The chrome is good and free of rot. The tires are almost new matching Michelin MXV4s on the factory 15” alloys. The interior is remarkable: The seats are firm with no sagging and demonstrate just one minor spot of wear on the driver's seat bolster. The feintuft velour carpets have been covered since new and are literally in like new condition under the factory floormats. The many different seating positions work perfectly. The air conditioning system provides cold air on demand and the heating system works great. The wood trim is exquisite save for a few hairline cracks. The console "roll-top" box, usually long-since disintegrated, is in excellent condition, and the gauges even retain their orange color - not yellowed-out like the majority of this intage Mercedes. The headliner is in fine condition without typical SEC rear sag, although the sunroof lining is loose - the roof functions both pop-up and slide, but will jam because the liner is loose. This is supposedly a cheap and easy fix, but I have not taken the time. The electrical accessories all function properly, and the warning lights all come on at ignition and extinguish as they should once the car is started, and the dashboard is 100% crack free. In terms of mechanical condition, the car runs great. There is no smoking, chattering, etc, and the faster the better! There is some very minor seepage underneath. The car tracks straight down the road and can cruise effortlessly at 80-85 mph all day long. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The previous owner indicated that the transmission had been replaced but did not have records to substantiate that. The detailed records do show a history of transmission service and sealing. The detailed service history shows that the cylinder heads were recently completely professionally refurbished and the timing chain guide rails replaced. In addition, it is clear that every need of the car was dealt with in due course over its lifetime. As mentioned earlier, a summary of the records is available via email upon request (please provide email address) in an Excel spreadsheet. The car comes with two keys as well as the factory tool kit, jack, and spare tire. It has a current (03/2012) Virginia State safety inspection. I purchased this car recently as a fourth "fun" car, but unfortunately I have an old Italian project car that is in need of a substantial cash infusion, so this one must go to someone who will care for and enjoy it as I wanted to. I have found this car a joy to drive – delivering the smooth C126 ride and V8 power, and it is worth more in parts than my modest reserve! Keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. I encourage bidders to come and see the car if possible. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what car you are looking at, it will have flaws. I can assure you that this is a great car that you can cherish for years to come. A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be sent by paypal or cashier's check by FedEx within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction. The balance must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction or upon pick-up of the car, whichever is earlier. The balance of the purchase price may NOT be made by PayPal. I will accept cash (in person), bank wire transfer, or cashier's check only. Purchaser is responsible for pick-up or all costs related to the shipping of the car. I am willing to deliver the car to the nearest DAS terminal (Manassas Park, VA) at no additional charge. PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR BID. IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME THROUGH EBAY PRIOR TO BIDDING. I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IF YOU DO NOT. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PURCHASE IT AND HAVE YOUR FUNDS IN PLACE AS YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BINDING AGREEMENT. IF YOU FAIL TO COME AND SEE THE CAR OR HAVE IT INSPECTED BY YOUR AGENT PRIOR TO THE END OF THE AUCTION, I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN YOU CANCELLING THE SALE FOR ANY REASON ONCE THE AUCTION HAS ENDED. IT IS THE PURCHASER'S DUTY TO PERFORM HIS OR HER OWN DUE DILIGENCE PRIOR TO THE END OF THE AUCTION. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY. Thank you for looking!!
