Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is my big and beautiful full size B-body 1969 Pontiac Catalina Wagon, with 400 cid 2bbl-R, with automatic transmission, in original two-tone color scheme. It's featured options are disc brakes, air-conditioning, am-fm radio, roof rack with middle 'v' post, and heavy duty radiator. I am the technically the third owner, but the actual second owner. The original owners bought the car when the man retired, and they owned it their entire life - 2 miles from the dealer in Vineland, NJ. He passed away, the car was parked for two years. She passed away, the estate was sold, and I bought the car 6 months later and brought it back to life. It is basically as I found it with a long list of exceptions that I will detail here. (when I bought the car, it had 30 consecutive annual fishing licenses, insurance slips and registrations). It has always been a garaged vehicle for its life. I have been daily driving this car for 5 years and used it for vacations and holidays. When I bought it, there were 91,000 miles and it now shows over 125,00. Here is a list of the items that I have replaced over the past 5 years, in order of first to latest: Switched to electronic timing, n.o.s. rotors, replaced spindles, fiberglass nose from pontiac parts.net, left side upper control arm replaced, all four ball joints, pitman arm, entire exhaust system (downpipe, longpipe, muffler, tip, and hangers), left bank exhaust manifold, n.o.s rear bumper, n.o.s. radio antenna, heater core, evaporator, expansion valve, receiver/dryer, A6 compressor, a/c hoses for R134, heater valve, pov valve, metro brand weatherstripping, brake booster, power steering pump, fuel pump, alternator, radiator, addition of coolant expansion tank, and to round it all out - new carpeting. She runs great and drives great. No shimmies or shakes, goes 90mph just fine, but here are the things that are wrong with it: the speaker just gave out (radio works fine), keyed tailgate window control (motor and dashboard switch work fine), front bench needs reupholstering, headliner has two small rips in rear and could use a cleaning (original owners smoked), windlace around doors is shot, passenger side front door window roller missing knob, a/c dashboard control silver trim is peeling, front lower plastic valence is off and broken (you could buy plain sheet and use original to cut out new one), U-joints could be replaced, and finally, body work needs to be done to get some of the rot in the panels. Also, the a/c compressor blew up (a/c clutch is fine) I will provide new a/6 compressor for your installation. The final history is that when I replaced the carpet, it would appear that the passenger side door pillar was replaced at some point. Also, I had to replace the right rear quarter panel when I was 'bumper hooked' in the wheel well by a van. Replaced with a rust free salvaged panel from a 69 bonneville wagon. So that's it. These are the extra parts you get - set of taillights, right front spindle, original distributor, VERY RARE REAR SPOILER (primed and ready for paint, was never installed on car), original lower plastic valence. If you have any questions - just ask. I will drive to you within 100 miles from NYC. I have lost my job and must part ways with one extremely rare car. I will miss her very much. . On May-05-11 at 11:14:03 PDT, seller added the following information: If you live in the area and would like to come to see the car, please feel free to do so. If you would like to ask me more questions, please feel free to contact me on my cell phone at 718-288-1355. Call me anytime, I would be more than glad to answer any questions you might have. The next bidder will probably win the car, the reserve is pretty close to being met!
