We are not making warranties as to its fitness or originality. We simply photographed and described it to the best of our ability. Pre-bid inspections are welcome. Post bid inspections ARE NOT! Please respect eBay’s rules for the auction’s stability! As you approach this truck, you’ll be “thrown-back” in time. When you drive it, you’ll be “thrown-back” in your seat. So hold you’re your hat folks, you’re in for a REAL TREAT! 1,150 miles…. That’s right; this ’48 Dodge Pickup has only covered 1,150 miles since its rebirth in 2007. Professionally built by Rodco Street Rod Builders in Riverside, CA (owner Scott 951-683-3010) and won "Best in Show" at the John Force Car Show in Yorba Linda, CA, the only show ever entered. A full Appraisel Report was completed by Jeff Hyman, Founder of Auto Appraisel Network, Inc. (800) 454-1313 with a Fair Market Value of $110,000. If you’ve been out there driving or shopping for a street rod, you’ve seen a variable cornucopia of junkyard assembled, "Frankenstein mobiles" with bodies that rattle apart, suspensions that’ll shake the fillings from your teeth and drive trains that’ll throw a trail of oil, smoke and engine parts a mile behind you. It'd be a nice surprise to find an example of the species that, despite being a ground-up, custom street rod is a completely dependable truck which runs, drives and handles like a late-model. The most likely place to unearth such a rare gem would be Southern California, with its mild climate and large number of affluent, Mopar enthusiasts. Such an amazing find is the miraculously well-built street rod presented for auction here! This 1948 Half Ton Pickup has led a charmed life. Its owner is a mature collector who has treated the truck like his one and only child, never leaving the Golden State. To claim this truck is immaculate would be an understatement. Not only is the body and interior PERFECT; the engine, drive train, undercarriage and suspension are all a sparkling spectacle of beauty and performance. Let's Take a closer look now. Exterior: With only 1,150 miles on the road, the pristine ALL STEEL body, undercarriage and trim speaks volumes about the loving care this Pickup has received and underscores its Southern California provenance. In fact, with little preparation, this extraordinary example of the marque could be proudly displayed at any local car show or Concours d'Elegance and leave with a first place trophy. Paintwork and detail is amazing (dare we say "perfect?"), Judge for yourself: Doesn’t the truck look as if it came right from a car show? The red stained, solid oak bed is simply stunning. The polished & plated Billet wheels require sunglasses to protect your eyes. Custom blended 2-piece windshield is spectacular. Fabricated front bumper fits snuggly into the font body panel. More sparkling chrome here shows amazing detail. Speaking of detail, let us stress how straight the body is, how perfect the chrome, how glossy the paint… so deep, you’d swear you could dive into it. This one is that clean! There is one small ding below the outside rail of the driver's side running board that was caused from an improperly placed lift (see photo above). It is being repaired this week. Interior: The rich, burgundy leather interior with wool carpet and suede headliner still smells new and features ICE COLD A/C, a spectacular, remote controlled audio system, full instrumentation and sparkling custom features everywhere you can see. Check it out: Engine & Mechanical: There's a little surprise under the hood. The engine compartment is simply stunning. A brand new GM 350 crate Engine is in perfect harmony with the 700R4 transmission and disc brakes to give you all of the benefits of modern drive train. Needless to say, the truck is mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically. The V8 engine starts and idles smoothly in any weather, revs and pulls like a F-16 Fighter Jet, shifting smoothly through the gears with no noises or smoke. Warmed up, the oil pressure ranges from about 30 lbs. at idle to a reassuring 70 lbs. at speed. Coolant temperature remains absolutely stable, with no hint of overheating even after extended runs at high speeds. Additionally, all the custom electrical works perfectly including all lights, gauges, blinkers and switches. Oh, and this truck won’t be leaving any oil for you to slip on, nor will you see any smoke in your rearview mirror! Let’s have a look underneath. Any questions? Want to inspect? Please email through eBay and you’ll get a fast response. Drivability: Paramount to the Street-Rod, driving experience is the element of unadulterated fun. Throwing this hot rod through the curves, aided by 18” & 20” Wheels, Ventus Tires and 4-wheel disc brakes, you'll find that nothing in your wildest dreams can compare. Handling and braking are simple and superb with no rattles, shakes, shimmies pulling or fading. All in all, this ’48 Dodge is a thoroughly convincing performer. Classic pickup trucks are as iconic as Coca Cola and very collectible to boot. Chevy and Ford lovers can take their pick of the litter, but what about us Mopar enthusiasts, who have developed a taste for the finer things in automotive life? Well, here’s one that not only survived the ravages of time but has avoided the challenges of harsh farm and ranch life, and decades-long abuse at the hands of itinerant gardeners or uncaring juvenile owners. In fact, this ’48 Dodge Pickup is up to any task imaginable. It could serve as a trophy winning show truck, a "new" old truck to relive the good old days, or simply as a reliable, fun daily driver during ANY time of the year. At the very least, no matter where you go, you’ll see a smile on everyone’s face, including your own. To state it succinctly: It delivers on its promise! Presently, we have a clear, California Title. CA License and Registration are paid through January, 2012. For show purposes, tags are included but not currently placed on rear plate. Local sales tax and DMV transfer fees apply to residents in CA. All questions must be answered and all inspections must be completed PRIOR TO BIDDING. Proof of insurance will be required for a test drive. This Roadsrer is being sold in AS-IS CONDITION and comes with absolutely NO WARRANTIES EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. We are proud to have 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK. Bid with confidence, knowing everything represented in this auction is accurate. This Pickup’s present condition and buying terms have been described as accurately as possible. If you have ANY questions or want to bring a mechanic to inspect, please email us. You will receive a prompt response. This is certainly one of the finest street rods in the nation and would cost well over a hundred grand to build today. This one however is offered here with No Reserve. What a great opportunity to purchase a prime example of one of the World's most acclaimed post war, Pilothouse pickups, the immortal ’48 Dodge Half Ton which is sure to remain an outstanding investment for the winning bidder and a joy to drive for many years to come. Thank you, good luck and HAPPY BIDDING!
