This auction is for a 4WD 1951 Jeep M38 designed and built for the military. The 4-cylinder, 2.3 liter Ford engine was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago. The Saturn overdrive was rebuilt about 1,500 miles ago. It was purchased by the current non-smoking owner in 1977 and complete maintenance records are included. The jeep is fully operational, licensed through January 2012 and can be driven as is. Ax and shovel set mounted on right side.2 Jerry can carriers mounted in rear.Jeep doors are removable as well as the tailgate.Full maintenance/improvement records dating back to 1977.FRONT BUMPER AND TOOL BOX ( The lid is open in the photo) HI-LIFT Model HL 484 bumper jack is mounted on top of bumper, lift capacity 5000 lbs.A rope puller assembled with block with 3200 lbs. capacity, a 38 ft. long ½´ “Silveron” rope and various shackles, pins, and bolts. All is carried in the tool box. An angle bracket on bumper is provided for mounting a pintle hook. Front bumper and special bracket can be assembled to break the bead of a tire.CAMPING ACCESSORIES A food storage box (grub box) is included and can be carried in the jeep secured to the floor. It is partitioned to hold a camp stove, a pot set, and food. The space under the grub box was designed for a small, portable DC refrigerator. The top lid and front of the grub box is removable and can be made into a table with a leg set which is carried inside the jeep.
