Vehicle Detail

Well, here it is. It's Spring again. Time to take out the Met.So, that's what I did this morning and guess what! It started right up the first time! I took it for a little ride, and it still has plenty of get up and go. I will be taking more pictures this morning, but for now, I'll show you what I have. This is a wonderful car which I have restored to the point where the parts necessary to guarantee a smooth running car have been achieved. For example:I have put on a new Trafficator Directional Signal device (you used to have to push a lever with your knees when I got it, believe it or not.)I set the spark plug gap correctly.Took off fuel tank, checked sending unit (it works fine).Redcoat sealed fuel tank.Inserted fuel filter in fuel line.Put on new fuel pump and carburator.New speedometer cable.New fuel line from fuel pump to carburator.4 new tires (they only have about 50 miles on them).New master cylinderTune up.New outside rear view mirror (not yet installed, but comes with the car)New rubber floor mats.New carpet floor mats front and back (not yet installed, but comes with the car)New Electronic Distributor (Wow, what a difference that made!!!)New water pump and bearings.Totally new exhaust system front to back.New motor and transmission mounts. Bottom line: Everything is done to insure a dependable running car. So, what is left?I had hopes of getting to the cosmetic things, such as new headliner, back seat replacement, new door handle, new latch for glove compartment door, new upholstery for seats, tube for radio, and many other cosmetic things.I would even repaint it although it doesn't look bad. It was originally a black and white car, but some amateur did a poor repainting job making it blue and white. If you didn't mind doing all the many little things that make it look more like it was in 1960, and you want to start with a car that you know will run well, this is the car! Even though I put in a new speedometer cable, it only worked for a few dozen miles, then quit. An expert mechanoc for Mets told me the speedometer head needed to be rebuilt (a $125.00 job). That was next on my list of things to do, but I didn't get to it. Now have to sell this car that I love due to the economy.I am a MOCNA member for 20 years and a member of the Rocky Mountain Mets Club.Only a tiny bit of rust down behind rear bumper. Solid car. Here are the details that you might want to know:Chassis Serial Number - E70660Body No. - 10899Model No. - 562Trim No. - T971Paint No. P914-P908 All glass is fine. Spare OK. Horn OK. Battery excellent. No back seat, but when would you ever use it? Rear trunk accessible from the outside (before 1958 they weren't).Delivery possible if you are willing to pay for the trip from Parker, Colorado. Contact info: Ken 303-805-4567 kenc@skybeam.com
