Vehicle Detail
BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL HIGH BID WAS WITHIN TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS OF MY RESERVE PRICE, I HAVE DECIDED TO RE-LIST MY 2.8 LITER BMW Z3. THIS IS A FLORIDA CAR THAT WAS BOUGHT NEW IN ORLANDO AND HAS NEVER LEFT THE STATE. THE LOW MILEAGE AND IMPECCABLE QUALITY OF THE CAR MAKE IT A PERFECT ADDITION FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO COLLECT OR ENJOY. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR SPARINGLY ON WEEKENDS THE ENTIRE TIME I’VE OWNED IT, BUT NOW WITH A YOUNG CHILD I RARELY FIND TIME TO ENJOY THE CAR. THIS IS TRULY A “MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN” TYPE OF SITUATION. I HATE TO SEE THE CAR GO, BUT I NEED GARAGE SPACE MORE THAN A TWO-SEAT ROADSTER AT THIS POINT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. THANKS- RWM This preserved 1997 garage kept beauty has a powerful 2.8 liter - 24 valve - DOHC - 6-cylinder with variable valve timing, 5-spd and only 39k original miles. It is owned by an auto enthusiast and has been serviced only by BMW certified mechanics, most recently receiving the complete 36k mile tune-up service ($650). New equipment purchased within the last year includes Dunlop Z-rated 225 mm tires, Interstate battery and new brakes. Additionally some tasteful modifications such as Eibach springs, a polished aluminum strut tower brace, a dual drink holder/storage console and a Hard Dog roll bar system (currently not installed) painted the factory Atlanta Blue color to match the vehicle. Additionally, all new BMW Roundels were purchased and installed on the four wheel hubs from Fields BMW in Orlando. Other upgrades were purchased through Bavarian Autosport and are of the highest quality. This pampered roadster has received Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes every 5,000 miles and is truly a special car. The Harmon-Kardon sound system is superb and has an automatic volume control that will reduce volume to an appropriate level when slowing to a red light. The factory installed 6-disc CD changer is mounted in the trunk and is accompanied by the original tool kit, window drape cloth and boot cover. The original spare tire has never touched the pavement, and the tires have less than 2,500 miles on them. The dash with chrome rimmed guages, tan leather interior and wood-grain accents are in brand new condition as is the exterior paint. The A/C blows ice cold air and has never had a problem cooling even in the sweltering temperatures of Florida. The lone need is a new soft top. The original top was damaged at my house during yard work by a string trimmer (see photo) although the factory bows, connectors and hardware are fine with only the canvas needing replacement. The cut is about 12 inches long and has been taped-up temporarily. I researched around Orlando and received quotes of $450-$750 for complete new top and window replacement from 6 different trim shops. This is truly a special sports car in a very desirable color combination being sold by a long term owner who has meticulously maintained the vehicle with Armor All, Rain-X, Lexol & Zaino leather treatments and clay bar wax. This Z3 has spent its life in the garage connected to a Battery Tender system and driven on weekends, averaging less than 4,000 miles per year. This is the first year a 6 cylinder engine was offered in the Z3, and is likely a collector's item in the future. It is very quick with a wonderful exhaust note and very economical averaging 28 mpg on the highway according to the on-board computer system. It was also the first year for the flared fender body (see M-Roadster body compared to 4-cyl body) so a wider wheel and tire package can easily fit within the wheel wells. The original cassette tape instruction guide and both owner manuals (still sealed in plastic) are in the glove compartment and will come with the car. The painted roll-bar system has a value of over $1,000 and will be INCLUDED within the purchase price of the vehicle for the new owner.
