I bought it from Bankston Chevrolet of Dallas right after the original owner had traded it in on a new truck. The original owner was actually a small nationwide environmental management firm and they bought this truck from Jerrys Chevrolet of Weatherford in October of 2002 with 25 miles on it. It was used by a field supervisor to check on jobs all over this part of the U.S. and the truck was kept on a fleet maintenance program since "Day 1". - WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MAINTAIN THIS TRUCK FOR THE PAST 10K MILES?I am very picky about maintenance myself, so the one thing that sold me on this truck when I bought it was that it had obviously been maintained extremely well. During the time Ive had this truck, Ive had the oil and fuel filter changed every 3k miles. Ive also had the following done during my ownership: new serpentine belt, new idler pulley, new Continental Heavy-Duty batteries, new rear axle seals, rear axle fluid changed with synthetic oil, alignment, transmission fluid and filter service, 4 new Firestrone Transforce A/T tires (265/75/16; Load Range E), and a new windshield. - WHAT DOES THE TRUCK NEED?When I bought this truck, it was smoking a little at idle, so I had a local diesel shop "rebuild" all eight fuel injectors. This completely cured the smoking for quite a while. But, what I didnt know at the time, was that all this particular shop did to "rebuild" the injectors was to take all of them out and clean them. So, once again it recently started smoking a little at idle. This is the only time that it smokes and Ive been driving it this way for several weeks with no issues at all. I took all the pictures below with the truck running so you can see how minor it really is. If the slight smoking bothers you, just be prepared to replace the fuel injectors at some point. The transmission also leaks a little, but I just add about a quart every oil change and that keeps it full. I wouldnt be afraid to drive it to Canada at the drop of a hat - its ready to go anywhere. But, I just bought a new truck so this one needs to go. One thing I will dearly miss about this truck is the fuel mileage. This truck routinely gets 19 MPG on the highway. This truck has no blow-by and doesnt burn a drop of oil. Every part of this truck is as tight as a drum. The front end and suspension are all solid. You can let go of the steering wheel at 80 MPH and it will track perfectly straight. There is no play in the steering at all.
