Vehicle Detail
Located in Lewisville, North Carolina The front valence (bumper, air dam) started out as a fiberglass reproduction of the Carrera RS, but was customized to delete the oil cooler opening and give it an aggressive, smooth look. The front fenders are 1969 – 1973 with the flair. The rear fenders have the Carrera RS flairs. These are not fiberglass, they are true metal parts. The rear bumpers are metal too. The rear engine deck lid is from a 1993 911, which mates perfectly on the car. The electric spoiler does function. The color of the car is Porsche Seal Grey, paint code Y1. The car is rust free and was stripped to the bare metal before paint. The Fuchs wheels are 15X7 up front and 15X8 in the rear. The alignment was professionally done by Speed Werks. It also has front and rear factory sway bars. The steering wheel is a Momo, leather wrap and has a padded center. The carpet is the Carrera style which covers the side panels and the back deck to the rear window. The headliner is black as well as the Porsche eight way power seats. The radio is a CDR 220 Porsche system, working in conjunction with a Sony amp and four Blaupunkt speakers. The machine work was performed by Competition Engineering, with the direction of Will, at Classic Speed Parts, and the engine assembly was performed by Vic Skirmants, of 356 Enterprises. The 86mm pistons and cylinders brought the engine displacement up to 1720cc, with a 9.1:1 comp-ratio. The cam is a 266 duration (degree). The cylinder heads were free of any cracks and rebuild with new valves, valve seats, valve springs and rocker arm assemblies rebuilt. The 912 crank has a one under regrind and was balanced with the flywheel, pressure plate and front pulley. Also the case is standard size. The 912 connecting rods were reconditioned and balanced all within one gram of each other. The engine uses Weber 40 IDF XE carburetors. The carbs have been set up with 32mm diameter venturis, 130 main jets, 60 idle jets and F7 emulsion tubes. They are attached to the Solex intake manifolds with Weber adaptor plates. The factory oil can filter has been by-passed and a full flow oil system installed. The engine front cover was modified for this and the oil pump cover was replaced with a Classic Speed Parts oil pump cover with the built in pressure relief valve. For the past three years, I have been using the car as my daily driver. Most of the miles coming from transporting my model airplanes to the airfield, the planes have grow in size over the years and it is time to get something bigger.
