I am listing this car for a friend. This is an original 1969 Ford Galaxie XL GT. This '69 XL GT Sportsroof 2Dr. Hardtop is equipped with the N-code 360HP 429 4V V-8, factory 4-speed transmission(code 5), and locking 3.25 rear end(code R). Rare is often over-used, but I have been told that there were less than 150 of these XL GT Hardtops produced with fact 4-speed, so the term might apply. This car could probably best be described as a surviving original. It has been adult owned and has been in storage more than it has been driven. Mileage shown is 65,151, believed actual, but not documented. Car needs restored, but runs and drives good and would be a fun toy until restoration. All major components appear to be matching numbers(carb. has been changed) and car is basically stock except for an aftermarket air conditioning set-up, (installed in 1970). This Galaxie was built at the Richmond, VA assembly plant on Dec. 4, 1968. It was sold new at Harvest Motors, Inc. in Salem, VA. After spending a short while in Virginia, this Galaxie went to California. It stayed there until the late 1980's, when it came to southern Indiana. Car has basically been in storage the last 15 years or so, but did get a new clutch recently. Body is very straight. Car appears to have had one repaint in original Black Jade color(but is ready for another). It looks like car originally had gold "C" stripes, as remnants can be seen in the door jams. While basically solid, rust-out is present around both rear wheel openings and at bottom of both rear quarters(see pics) and will need repairing. A small area of rust thru is also present at lower front of passenger side door. Also, a quarter sized rust hole is present in left front corner of bottom trunk floor. Underside of body appears very sound, so car should be a fairly easy restoration. Black vinyl top appears to be original, and is very presentable. Car is not missing any trim, but most chrome and bumpers need redone. Drivers bucket seat needs repair, dash pad is cracked, headliner has a small hole, and front of console was cut when air cond. was installed. The remainder of interior is very presentable original. Engine compartment appears very intact. As stated, carb. was replaced, but an old carb is with car that is supposed to be the original. Casting number on intake is C8SE-9424-B. Casting numbers on heads are C9VE-A. Casting number on block is C9VE-6009. Dual exhaust is stock except for glass packs and is very serviceable. Trunk compartment is clean and intact with original jack. The spare,while well worn, appears to be one of the original Goodyear Custom Wide Tread Polyglass H-70 15 tires. Original owner's manual in envelope, Ford owner's warranty cards,and other documents go with car(see pic). It's not much of a stretch to say this '69 XL GT is about of the end of the line for the performance oreinted full-size Galaxie models. Other performance models from Ford might be better known, but the rarity of this XL GT would make it a note-worthy addition to any Ford collection. As stated, car runs and drives good, but does have old tires, old gas,ect., so hauling or trailering is advised.
