Vehicle Detail
I'm selling this Hurst/Olds for the wife of my friend who recently passed away from cancer. They have owned the car since it was three years old and I have the signed-off title in hand that shows the year 1982 when they purchased it. My friends dream was to restore the car back to new condition, but obviously didn't ever get that far. I have looked the car over very thoroughly and I can't find any rust except for a little surface rust on the pass. side front floor pan. It is not perforated and looks great from underneath. The trunk is also very solid with no signs of rust, as are the wheel wells and so on. The drivers side door and rear quarter looks like some paint work was done many years ago because the paint has aged differently than on the rest of the car which I'm quite sure is original paint. Also, the deck lid and top of the car have some flaking going on in the paint. The interior is all original and the seats have cracks in them, and the headliner felt was pulled off because it was falling off. I pulled out the carpet because I wanted to inspect the floor pan integrity, and you can see in the pictures that they are solid. The dash and door panels are in good shape and won't need to be replaced. The console is in pretty nice shape too. You can see in the pictures that the chrome bucket seat trim on the driver's side is broken at the hinge area and the reclining mechanisms will need some work. The windows go up and down fine and the glass is all good. I think pretty much everything works on the car except the A/C and the cruise control. The car starts up and runs and drives well. It had been in storage for probably more than ten years, but it didn't take much to get it running again. I drove it about a 100 miles and had no problems. The motor is the original W-30 high output 350 and is coupled to a turbo 350 trans that shifts fine. There were only 2499 Hurst/Olds made in 1979 and was the last year for the Hurst dual gate shifter. This car is all original with no modifications except it doesn't have the factory alloy wheels on it, but has the steel Cutlass wheels on it instead. The alloy wheels were also put on 1978 Cutlasses, so if you are a purist, you might be able to find the wheels somewhere. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! I didn't mean to be misleading.*****
