Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1990 Volvo 240 Wagon 5-speed. I purchased this vehicle in April of 2007 in Norfolk, VA and it was a daily driver for almost a year before going into climate controlled government storage in April of 2008. I returned from my overseas tour in October of 2010 and immediately picked the car up and it has been my daily driver since then doing 60 miles a day to and from work and it hasn't missed a beat. We just got a new car so it is no longer needed. This vehicle was originally purchased in England by someone in the military through the Volvo overseas buying program, date of purchased indicates 1991. It spent a year or two in England before being imported into Virginia. It comes with original owners manual, service booklet with documented service up to 72,000 miles. When i bought it in 2007 it had about 110,000 miles and is now showing 126,000 but the odemeter stopped working about 2 months ago, the speedo still works. Since i have owned the vehicle i have replaced the clutch, cat-back exhaust, engine mounts, transmission mount, center drive shaft bearing, rear trailing arm bushings, brakes all around, both front turn signal lights and i recently converted it to R-134A and it has a full charge and is currently blowing COLD A/C. Stock seat heaters still work. The only known faults are the odometer as previously mentioned, the windshield washer pumps do not work, the wipers do but no wash. The cruise control does not work and the reverse lights do not work, all minor fixes i just haven't had the time. You can see from the photos that the drivers seat has seen better days and is cracked and has a tear in the back but is still comfortable--all other seats are in good condition. The rear-facing third row seat looks like it has never been used. All in all this is a good solid, absolutely rust free 240 that is safe and dependable and has many more miles left in her. I will say that the photos make it look a bit nicer than it is so please keep in mind that this car is 21 years old and as such is by no means perfect---it could do with a buff and a wax and trim treatment. You can see in one of the photos that it looks like someone burned through the paint in one spot on the hood, other than that the paint is pretty good. I can help arrange national shipping at buyers expense but the car will not move until all funds have been received. Please email with any questions, thanks for looking and good luck!
