Vehicle Detail

1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible This is a very highly optioned numbers matching big block true 442. A car like this with all these factory options is extremely hard to find. This is the 442 that you have been looking for. I have searched for a car of this magnitude for the past 30 years, and had intended on restoring it to 100 point specifications. I sold both my 1967 and my 1969 GTO's last year in order to purchase this 442 last summer. I paid a great deal of money for this car. I know the potential investment value of a numbers matching 1970 442 convertible with this many rare factory options. I had always intended on restoring it to keep it in my family and pass it down to my grandson, but a situation has risen that is forcing me to offer this rare vehicle at no reserve. I've seen the same comparable restored 1970 442 convertible sell at Barrett-Jackson and Russo Steele auctions in excess of $100,000. If this car is properly restored it should easily bring those types of numbers. I really have mixed emotions about letting it go, but this is a fantastic opportunity for those knowledgeable of the most highly sought after muscle cars on the planet. The Nada Classic Car price guide has this 442 listed at $46,800 in high condition, $25,900 in average condition, and $14,350 in low condition plus an increase of 15% for a 455/365HP engine, and 5% for the air conditioning option. This is a Texas car that has a clear title from Texas that dates back to January of 1978. Since this 442 virtually spent its entire life in Texas the frame is very nice, and the floor/trunk areas are also still in relatively nice condition. I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. I did replace the trunk lid with a very nice one, otherwise all the panels are believed to be the originals and still line up like they did 41 years ago. The dashboard has no cracking, and holds an original AM/FM stereo radio. It does not turn on, but I never checked the fuses. In fact, outside of replacing the trunk lid, I have done nothing to this car except store it in my garage. I was going to purchase the W-25 ram-air hood, and a whale tail spoiler, but that can be left up to the preference of the next owner. I personally believe that there is no finer muscle car made than the 1970 442 convertible. Almost every part for this car is available in reproduction, and many restoration companies offer new old stock original parts. I have done many of these 442's over the years, and they are a pleasure to work on. If you prefer to have other people do the work for you, I know of an interior shop that will replace the entire interior with brand new everything for under $3000, and a new top for less than $1000. This car can be driven while you restore it. The numbers matching big block 455 has been completely gone through, and runs excellent. This engine has been barely broken in, and will last for many many years to come with a turbo 400 transmission. There is power steering and power front disc brakes, although the brake petal does stick sometimes. This 442 has a power top, power windows, a power drivers bucket seat, air conditioning, cruise control, rally gauges, sport steering wheel, and a dual gate shifter. The convertible top will need to be replaced, and the original carpet was removed. There are four raised white lettered Cooper Cobra Radial GT's with nice tread on Super Stock II wheels. This 442 deserves to have the proper restoration to bring it back to its former glory. This Oldsmobile is an incredible investment opportunity. Don't miss out on this one. Bid now and bid often! This sale will be final on Sunday evening at 7pm central time. Please ask as many questions as you like. I pride myself in answering every question with the utmost honesty in explicit detail. This car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
