Vehicle Detail
Lot’s of stuff to cover here: 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0L – it started out a 4 cylinder but I had Collins Brothers Jeeps in Wylie, TX swap in the inline 6 back in 2002/2003 – the correct transmission & transfer case were swapped in as well. The odometer has been broken since 2004/2005 (actually the spedo gear is stripped out in the transfer case) so while it reads ~ 171k miles, the Jeep has somewhere around 210~220k miles on it, the rebuilt inline 6 has ~ 60k or less. It has been extremely reliable since the swap – I drive it back & forth to work daily. Clutch was replace ~ 2 years ago & has only been on the trails once since so there’s plenty of life left on it. No air conditioner – heater works great (heater core & both coolant hoses were replaced last summer). I have a set of full metal doors but they are not the original, the color is gray, and they need a lot of work, but I’ll throw them in of course. The axles were swapped in from a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer, Dana 44s front & rear. There’s a Detroit soft-locker in the front, Detroit locker in the rear – 4.56 gears. I installed Warn manual locking hubs up front. I went through the trouble of finding & installing a high steer knuckle on the passenger side, but never got the link & arm to finish it out – this would really help with the bump steer – this thing can be a bit sketchy on the highway J 35in BFG Mud Terrains have a lot of life left on them. Slip-yoke eliminator kit & Tom Woods custom CV drive shaft installed. The Rubicon Express spring-over axle lift was installed by Baertrax in Dallas – it had to be modified a bit to accept the Dana 44s. CD player is toast and you’ll need a new antenna & cable for the radio – someone broke in and cut it for me a few years back. Warn M8000 winch works great – Warn bumper is fitted with a high-lift jack. There is a crack/hole just below the driver seat slider/riser that will need to be addressed at some point – years of me bouncing around in the seat finally cracked the tub but nothing a little welding won’t fix. No major rust spots anywhere, it’s all minor surface stuff. This Jeep needs some TLC no doubt, but it is has been dependable & trail worthy for me for the past 11 years – I’m the second owner. It’s black underneath the dirt in case you can’t tell J Please call me if you have any questions 214-632-1257.
