Vehicle Detail
This 1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone convertible is a project car and was picked from a pasture with our first intent to restore it back to its original beauty. The car has a 289 V-8 engine and a 3 speed transmission with column shift. The odometer shows 52,355 miles and we have no way of verifying that it is correct, however there is documentation in the car that shows in 2001 the car had 48K miles and new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and shocks were installed at that time. The motor does start and run but needs a tune up pretty bad. We have driven it about 3 or 4 miles in town. The interior is pretty well shot; it looks like the seat framework is ok but will need all new interior upholstery and a new top. The door handles and window openers as well as trim chrome seem to be all here. The pump for the top is in the car and runs but probably needs fluid. There are several rusty spots and we have tried to include good photos of those areas. There is some body filler on the car as well and is indicated in the photos. The undercarriage appears fairly good; the rear driver seat well has been patched as noted in the photos and you should see the screws in the down side. This was done before we got it so all we can say is what is in the pictures. There are four matching hubcaps that are Comet caps. The windshield glass has a rock chip and all side glass is intact. Front and rear bumpers are on the car and in relatively good condition. This car has a clear and marketable title. We are selling because we have several other cars in various stages of restoration and need to complete them. We have decided that we don’t have time for this project and hope that someone else will.
