1993 Dodge Spirit Flex Fuel FFV 2.5 LITER alcohol ,gas, E85 motor I purchased this vehicle from a US Gov't GSA auction in 1997 . The US government purchased about 4500 of these. drove it until my wife refused to drive "that old heap" anymore.With 7 other vehicles a few have finally got to go!I will miss this vehicle sorely but I like my 65 VW Bus more! This vehicle runs on alcohol or gasoline or most any mix I am told. If you make / distill your own alcohol then you drive CHEAP! THE GOOD: Runs good , starts easy, doesn't smoke, good compression,transmission shifts fine. Last road trip of 700 miles got 27 MPG ! .AC/heater, am-fm radio, wipers, rear defog, horn, turn signals , light etc all in working order. Front rotors, pads, struts plugs wires, etc replace within last 2000 miles. All glass intact and no cracks in windshield Interior decent for age with minor spots and a minor spots- no tears rips etc.Newer exhaust.Has original Flex Fuel equipment with exception of gas cap. I ran synthetic oil in this baby and that got me 4 more MPG ; I've used it ever since in all my vehicles. The BAD: I think it has a ground problem. Runs great for a few minutes and then the ammeter drops to zero and engine light comes on. I replace the computer twice and it still does it. My mechanic buddy says it sounds a lot like a ground problem. Exhaust slightly noisy BUT easy fix: pipe needs a clamp as they came apart after a deep snow tugged it loose. Tires are decent but mixmasters- two one brand and two a different brand. Has some door rust typical of Midwest vehicles - the morons put salt on road.See pics. Rear deck lid paint bad as is bumper paint. Carpet needs cleaned. Brake drums ( rear only , front disc OK) need pulled and cleaned as the ubiquitous rust can be heard rolling around. No spare tire All in all a vehicle worthy of being put back into road service and driven. Feel free to ask any questions.
