This 1 owner car’s history begins with its sale at Wentworth & Irwin AMC in Portland, OR in August, 1976. After a little more than 28,000 fun filled miles, the original owner quit driving in 2002. In 2006 he passed away, leaving the car to his grandson. It was then trailered to Phoenix, where it remained in storage until last month. It was then serviced to prepare it for sale: all fluids drained and replaced; radiator rebuilt; transmission serviced; new brakes; new battery. The car comes with tons of documentation:- Original title with 1 mile- Original cancelled checks from purchase- Order sheet- Original window sticker- Build sheet- Original owner’s manual (including the ID card!)- Original sales brochure- Original color chart- Original specification chart- All registration cards- All insurance cards- Lots of maintenance receipts Throughout the owner’s manual and receipts are hand written notes made by the owner as he cared for the car – notes on the timing setting, firing order, setting idle mixture screws, etc. It even has 2 original keys and the original keyfob from the dealership. The spare in the trunk is one of the original tires. Options on the car include:- bigger engine (258 cid)- automatic transmission- factory air- power steering- heavy duty suspension The car drives nice, but needs front shocks. As mentioned above, it has new brakes and recent transmission servicing. The power steering has a leak – the reservoir is empty now to keep from making a puddle in the driveway. The air conditioning comes on but does not get cold. There are receipts for air conditioning work while the car was in Oregon. The car has no rust. The exterior is all original, never been painted or had repair work. The paint is still very nice, although it has been waxed thin in a couple of spots. It also has a couple of usage scars – minor scratches on the roof and one on the right quarter made sometime in the late ‘90s when the owner and his wife were leaving church and he didn’t see a cable between 2 posts that he ended up driving underneath. The original interior is still in very nice shape. The driver’s side of the bench seat has a couple of tears in the seam. The passenger door panel has a couple of cracks at the top. The dashpad and carpet are both nice. This car shows lots of evidence of being well taken care of through the years. As the saying goes, you can restore a car as many times as you want, but they are only original once. Available here is probably one of the nicer original Pacer survivors around.
