Vehicle Detail

2005 Chevy Equinox FWD LS, runs well. I repossessed from a non-paying owner in Largo, FL and re-registered in my name (clear title now with no lien holders). This has been a TX,OH,FL vehicle all of its life and I have included a couple of shots of the undercarriage to show that there is no rust. The previous owner did not include the manuals in the glove-box that were provided at sale, however, the manual is available free in its entirety at: http://www.gmprotectionplanwarranty.com/owners-manual/chevrolet/2005-Chevrolet-Equinox.pdf The five-passenger Chevy Equinox, offers a larger interior than the Tracker had, more comfortable ride and a novel rear seat that can slide forward and back nearly 8 inches to provide a whopping 40.2 inches of back-seat legroom — unheard of in the smaller SUV segment. Also standard in every Equinox: A V6 and 5 speed automatic transmission. It has a number of safety features including dual airbags, ABS brakes, child seat anchors, Remote anti-theft alarm system, rear door child safety locks, Daytime running lights, dusk sensing headlamps, crash test results from Edmunds.com is all 5-stars except rollover, which got 4 stars. The Equinox has a large, powerful, 185-horsepower 3.4-liter overhead valve V6. It's mated to a smooth-shifting 5-speed automatic. The engine's 210 lb-ft of torque at 3800 rpm provide satisfying get up and go from startup as well as when drivers need to merge onto freeways and dodge into oncoming traffic. And the powerplant moves the Equinox confidently during highway travel. Almost no road noise. 19/25 MPG city/hwy according to GM. The bad news – in the interest of full disclosure: (1) Headlights are showing some cloudiness. 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System for $15 should clear this up. (2) Inside vehicle has stains on seats, nothing obnoxious and I would definitely leave it alone if I were to have kids in the SUV. Could be remedied by front and rear seat covers cheap or custom like these (not my auction...$249.95): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320635775914&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT#ht_1631wt_734 (3) A set of mats for the front and rear would dress things up a bit as well, as the mats were not in the car when it was repossessed ($30). (4) The previous owner was a smoker and there is an odor in the vehicle. Use two plastic containers and towels soaked in distilled white vinegar and leave them in the front of the vehicle overnight to remedy this. (see: http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Odors-from-Your-Car ) (5) He also backed into something and dented the rear panel right by the "Equinox LS" logo. No bumper damage at all. Unless you are a body shop, or know a good dent and ding person, you may want to leave it as is, as I don't know what it may cost to repair it. (6) The tires are not bald, but may need replacement ($436 for 4 Goodyear Integrity 235/70 r 16) at www.tirerack.com . (7) Change oil and filter ($30), transmission fluid ($200), wipers ($30), windshield washer fluid ($5), differential fluid ($100) and air filter ($30). So the issues listed above to get the SUV to a “like-new” condition are (15+250+30+436+30+200+30+5+100+30) = $1126. Say you can’t live with the dent in the rear and get it taken care of for $1000. You’ve now spent $2126 to get this SUV like new. It lists for no less than $9,995 and upwards of $13,500 (insane) here: http://www.carclassifiedsbystate.com/12/chevrolet/equinox/page6.html This is an as-is sale and I’ve done my best to disclose the issues I am aware of. This is a used car with 90,273 miles on it with a clean title. I drove it up from Largo (2 hours) and it drives and runs well. It still shows excellent acceleration, smooth handling, and working cruise control and the outside of the body, with the exception of the dent in the rear is in great shape. Starting the bidding at $5,500. Buyer will arrange transportation (pick-up and delivery) of vehicle. Seller will accept wire transfer, bank check (I will call the bank to verify issuance, and not from the number printed on the check), or personal check written from one of these banks (Wachovia, Bank of America, Wells Fargo) who will exchange it for a bank check. The vehicle will go nowhere and the title will remain in my hands until payment clears.
