Up for auction is a very rare 1967 Fiat 1100 R sedan. Fiat upgraded the 1100 in 1967 to bring it more up-to-date with a floor mounted shifter, front disc brakes and side-draft performance carburettor. The earlier 1100 D's are a dime a dozen (thousands of them still being used as Taxi's in India), but the "R" model is truly rare and unique. There are probably less than 5 of these "R" models left in North America. I know of only one other in California and it is a wagon. I purchased the car 3 years ago from an older gentleman in Colorado where it sat in a dry garage for over 25 years. It appears that the last time this car was on the road was the 1970's. It has an inspection sticker on it from 1973. Only 41,000 miles showing on the odometer and based on the lack of wear to key parts (such as the pedals and engine components), I believe this is original mileage. The car is complete and in-tact, but in need of total restoration. The body is solid for the most part, certainly restorable, but there is some rust in a number of places (see pictures). There are a couple of small holes in the floor, but they could be repaired with a patch, because most of the floor is very solid. The engine is not running, it seems stuck, I put some oil in the cylinders to help free it up. The previous owner had a title for the car, but lost it, so the car will come with bill-of-sale only. Once restored, this rare model would make you the star at any Italian car show (Concorso Italiano), or would make a neat display or delivery vehicle for an Italian car dealer (Fiat, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, or Lamborghini).
