NICE 1998 OFF ROAD 4X4 FORD RANGER XLT SUPER/EXTENDED CAB . We are selling because we cant keep two trucks in the garage at the same time as we now have a bigger one. This truck would be great as a work truck or as an everyday vehicle (was used to go to jobsites so may be a little dirty). Or you can go off-roading as the back decal suggests. This truck is no better or worse than most described here on ebay for this year. I want to state that I try to point out every little defect BECAUSE that IS WHAT YOU would LOOK FOR IF YOU were INSPECTING IN PERSON. All information is to the best of my knowledge w/ no hidden details. This is so there are no surprises when you take possession of the truck. In the bluebook description it would be rated as good because there are no major defects or major items in need of repair, but is not showroom quality as it is not brand new/restored. It is ready to be used as your vehicle as soon as you receive it, with only an oil change needed at the end of april or 2900 miles as oil needs to be changed every 3 months or 3000 miles. This truck runs great, but has been used very little over the past year. As with any vehicle of this age it has minor cosmetic defects. I tried to take as many full sized pics (the following are just thumbnails, click on the pics to get full screen sized pictures) so that you can inspect the truck. There have been some scratches, most on the bed side. Major ones have been touched up w/ factory matched paint such as chips in the very front hood. There is your typical rust underneath the body for a truck of this age but is not excessive. Some of the lower part of the lower panels may have surface rust. The worst rust spot I saw and took a pic of was behind the gas cap door. The back top corner above the tail light was dented in. There is also a star in the windshield which had a professional epoxy seal repair so the crack does not extend beyond the star. The headlight turning knob doesn’t go into the switch well, its kept in the cup holder and the center console doesn’t remain closed. The back of the tail gate is scratched (mostly repaired w/ that matched touch up paint) and has a gap when closed but does open and close. Windows are tinted but there’s a few spots where air has gotten underneath it. The engine light has always been on but there has never been a viewable problem w/ it. The 4X4 works well but is sometimes sluggish to get into 4 wheel drive, this may just be from non-use as it was now tested for this description by us for the fist time as we’ve never used it. It has cruise control buttons but have never tried them. Color is jewel green. Edmunds.com bluebook has this around $4200 reserve is $1500 less than this.REVISE, RESERVE LOWERED EVEN MORE. There are two keys, one for the drivers door and ignition and another for the passengers door. The transmission was rebuilt by AAMCO last year (have receipt ) and the head gaskets in the motor have been replaced. The motor is pretty clean. There are towing hooks (to pull or be pulled) on the front bumper in which the front and back bumpers have been newly painted. There is a nice tow ball attachment on the back bumper, but we have never towed anything. It has good looking 16 inch alloy wheels which the tires aren’t even 25% used see pic w/ penny. It also has an expensive after market cd player radio. A/C worked great last year (during hot weather) but it hasn’t yet gotten effectively hot enough to check it this year yet. The exhaust pipes and muffler are new since last year. The starter is also new and the truck went through a complete tune-up a year ago. We have never had an accident w/ the vehicle but this is only our second year w/ this truck so history before that is unknown to us. Its a great truck for the age, but as I said we have a new one that we work with now so we have to give this one up. I have a neighbor that sometimes delivers, but he probably cant this time so it will be local pick up in Urbana Illinois (central). $500 deposit in person (cash) or paypal within 48 hours of end of bid and cash upon pick up.
