Vehicle Detail
The Model A is currently black/Lombard blue. Mechanically, the car is sound. It has a new, heavy duty radiator, water pump, hoses, and steering box, The entire front end has been rebuilt: axle, spindles, king pins, bushings and shocks. Both the left anf right leaf springs have been replaced as has the rear spring. The Firestone tires are virtually new. It has a nice-looking tan trunk and spare tire cover. The tire is mounted on the side of the car. There is a cloth car cover that comes with the purchase. The car has cowl lights. The body of the car is sound. The only rust is a 3 inch hole in the firewall that can be patched. There is a little rust on the top of the door frame above the window. All windows work well but need their felt channel-lining replaced. The hole occurred when the last owner moved the battery up to the firewall and acid apparently splashed on the fireweall. The fenders are all steel and the wood floorboards are solid. The paint job is a $700 dollar adventure and needs to be repainted. The existing paint has started to blister and you can see rust but it is only surface rust. On the inside, the front seats and door panels need to be recovered. The headliner is fine except the molding has droped in the corner above the driver. The front rubber floor matt is new as are the boots for the gear shift and parking break. If I had a decent paint job and the front of the car recovered, I would be asking for more money. The engine is in great condition. It is hard to believe but it does not leak nor does the transmission leak. The cylinder compressions @ 6,000 feet are 58 59 58 59 (factory in 60 psi), The car cruises well betwen 45 and 50 MPH. The engine starts immediately even when cold. Odds and ends that need attention are: the horn needs rebuilding or replacing, the fuel valve inside the car needs replacing and I don't know if this is normal but the windshield-wiper is slow.
