Vehicle Detail
This is my pride and joy, a 1987 Peugeot STX with a five speed manual transmission. The STX came equiped with a 2.8 liter V6 engine, the same engine used in the Delorean. These cars are quite rare, but more rare are the STX 5 speeds. Only a handful were made. I purchased this low mileage car for my daughter who would be attending college in Phoenix, AZ. Before I turned her loose with the car, I rebuilt or replaced everything that even remotely needed attention. Some of these items included: new clutch, new clutch master and slave cylinders and connecting hose, new fuel pump, new water pump, hoses, belts, thermostat, new power streering pump and hoses, NEW euro headlights, new motor mounts and differential mounts, amd new heater/AC blower motor. The engine was resealed, including cam bearing bushings, oil pan and valve cover gaskets, front and rear crank seal. The car was recently repainted (the original color), new Bridgestone Potenza radial tires were added, as well as a new battery. My daughter used the car for about a year, and even in the hot Arizona summer, the AC worked perfectly. I finally broke down and bought her a Japaneese car, since it was easier to maintain away from home. She cried when she returned the Peugeot to me - as she really liked it. As the pictures indicate, the car is in excellent condition. The blue leather interior is like new and the body is gorgeous with the Euro headlights and the new paint. The engine runs flawlessly. Take a look at the pictures of the engine. Compared to other Peugeots I've seen on EBay, the engine compartment is really pretty clean with no rust issues. After changing the oil and running the car for 1500 miles, the oil is still a golden color. I have never had to add oil between changes, and there are no leaks. The car tracks down the highway perfectly straight, no pulling in either direction and the steering wheel is centered when the car is motoring straight down the highway. The tires are new, probably about 400 miles on them. The seats mold to your body. I have never had a car that feels so good to drive...but the French are known for their attention to comfort. I would compare this Peugeot to a BMW 530 of the same vintage, only cooler...because there are just not many of them around. The car has no rust issues other than the usual surface rust. There is a small 1/16th of an inch crack in the dash which can be fixed, and the sunroof...well let's just say it works, but it need some manual help. Let me expalin. Most of the sunroofs on the 505's don't work due to the fact that over time, the plastic cable housings have deteriorated, and finding that part is almost impossible. I tried fixing it with nylon tubing and finally ended up using copper tubing, but attaching the new tubing to the plastic ends is not easy. When I had it all back together it worked but with a degree of difficulty. Since I had to replace the headliner (yes, the headliner is brand new), I have chosen to just keep it closed and not risk having it malfunction. The only other issue with the car, happens when accelerating hard in first gear. The muffler/exhaust system come in contact with the body somewhere and a vibration will occur. According to the Online Peugeot Owners Club members, this is a common issue and can be corrected, but I just have not had the inclination, as it is really not that big a deal. Parts (other than the sunroof cable housing!) for these cars are easy to find. There are many suppliers and I will be happy to include a list for the new owner. Also, the online Peugeot Owners Club is a wonderful resource for information and just plain fun. There are some great people on that sight who really know every aspect of these wonderful cars. This is a road-ready car and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. However, it is a 24 year old vehicle, so keep that in mind. The car comes with the original jack and tools, the owners manual and leather binder. Good luck bidding. I will not end the auction early and don't ask me about the reserve. I know I will never recover all the many thousands of dollars I have put into this car, but my loss, will be someone's gain. I will store the car here in Arizona for a reasonable amount of time, and will be happy to work with anyone who plans on shipping the car home, even foriegn buyers. However, the buyer must make all shipping arrangments. Good luck, and Bon Bidding! On Mar-05-11 at 09:35:10 PST, seller added the following information: I AM RELISITING MY CAR DUE TO BIDDING ERRORS. AFTER THE AUCTION PEOPLE CONTACTED ME STATING THEY HAD ENTERED BIDS PAST MY RESERVE PRICE, BUT THOSE BIDS WERE NEVER RECEIVED. I HAVE CONNTACTED EBAY AND DECIEDED TO JUST GO AHEAD AND RELIST THE CAR. SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCE. I TRUST THAT EBAY WILL LOOK INTO THIS MATTER SO IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.On Mar-11-11 at 11:55:03 PST, seller added the following information: Just want to set the record straight. There is a Peugeot station wagon up for auction on Ebay. The owner used my copy in my description word for word in his last two paragraphs describing his car. I just want to let everyone know that my auction is in no way, shape, or form connected to his. I guess he just can't figure out how to write his own copy and has to plagiarize from others.
