Ford F-450 SUPER DUTY CHASSIS / CAB PROPANE POWERED You are bidding on a clean Florida truck which will be sold NOT AS PICTURED BUT AS A BARE CHASSIS / CAB COMBO!The pictured tool body will be removed prior to the sale but I do have another body available which is in very good condition though it does not have a crane or lift gate. Installation and purchase can be negotiated, please call! This is a former Amerigas propane powered truck which was converted at the factory for PROPANE ONLY, THERE ARE NO PROVISIONS FOR GASOLINE SUCH AS GAS TANKS, PUMPS OR INJECTORS! It does feature a complete IMPCO propane fuel system including several propane tanks, dual fill nozzles, fuel mixer, vacuum fuel shutoff and all necessary plumbing and components for propane operation. The tanks are empty It has a NEW Jasper 460 CID 7.5 liter long block installed; this engine appears to have had very little if any use and all fluids are clean. The rocker arms look like brand new when viewed through the oil fill hole. The transmission is the rugged ZF 5 speed manual withdrive shaft mounted parking brake. The truck also featutres 4 wheel dual piston Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes and the heavy duty DANA 80 rear differential with full floating rear hubs and a solid front axle. A very rugged design. The truck is rust free from Florida, and shows some minor interior wear which is typical and it also has a dented RF fender though I may have a replacement available. It has an "LP" calibration code on the door jamb from Ford, and this clearly indicates that the unit was built / sold as a propane truck from Ford. Interestingly enough, it does have the 7.5 fuel injection harness and fuel lines, but no other provisions for gasoline use and it appears that it was never used with gasoline. The body builder tag lists an outfit in PA as the assembler for the incomplete chassis, which also makes sense when the CARFAX is consulted. It appears that it was sold there and then arrived in Ft Myers, FL with 27 or so miles on it. The FL license plate expired in DEC 06 and it must have been removed from service at that point, which is not unusual for older units. I purchased this last August in Lehigh Acres, a suburb of Ft Myers and it appears to have spent most of it's life there. I cannot honestly tell you anything other than what I see; all IMPCO propane fuel parts are installed and appear to be in good order. There are 3 large MANCHESTER propane tanks installed , 1 is a midship tank and two are aft of the rear axle; and all are date coded from 1995 which obviously coincides with the model year of the unit. The engine is clearly new with the typical JASPER gray paint on everything, even the oil pan, and their serial and data tag are clearly labelled on the block near the oil pan mounting area. The oil and coolant appear to be as new. This unit may have been removed from service because of age or just corporate downsizing. I have seen this many times and the engine may not have even seen any use after it's installation; the big companies will sometimes dump all of the vehicles that are older regardless of their condition. The front frame has a 1 5/16 ball which I understand is used for setting tanks when the units are in the field. This is a very heavy duty fabrication that was obviously done by an experienced welder. As the unit is presently EMPTY, I do not want to represent this as anything other than an INOPERATIVE VEHICLE. As stated, it will crank and fire with a burst of carb cleaner, but I am not a qualified propane mechanic and there may be some work needed to that portion of the system to operate the vehicle, and it will have to be trailered from it's present location. I have no issue with storing the unit until transportation is available, and I will be happy to assist in loading via ramptruck or other means. I will gladly forward the IMPCO installation and troubleshooting guide to anyone whom would like to review it.On Mar-02-11 at 18:33:42 PST, seller added the following information: The last picture is of another unit I own. The utility body on THIS unit can be swapped to the truck that is now on the auction. This is not included, and the auction is only for the chassis / cab as discussed. It is an identical wheelbase and will sit fine on the propane truck, and is of very good quality made by IMT. On Mar-03-11 at 09:55:28 PST, seller added the following information: Last night I made an email inquiry and then today I spoke with the manager of the Amerigas branch in Ft Myers. According to him, the unit was red tagged because of damage done to the pictured crane, which was overloaded and the base welds were cracked, also damaging the turret weldment. The unit was fully operational, but was parked and then stripped of some parts for other units in the interim, prior to being disposed of at auction along with several others which were replaced with new trucks. The gentleman I bought it from evidently began replacing the missing parts and then sold it.
