I am offering this very clean 1968 Oldsmobile 442 convertible at a very reasonable price. You can't buy a nicer piece of American history for less unless you want to do all the work to restore it. I have owned it since 2003 and after the restoration was finished in 2005 I have driven it very little. It was originally built so my wife could drive it but that just didn't happen. I have since purchased and am nearly done with a 1968 Camaro SS/RS convertible that has a 4-speed in it which I would prefer. I am not desperate to sell this car but I would like to give it a new home that would appreciate this fine muscle car. The engine was rebuilt. It was bored .30 over and had the crank cut.10. All new pistons bearings and the usual stuff on a complete rebuild. The Cam is moderate so it will drive nice. The heads where done and I had hardened seats installed for the unleaded gas. The quadrajet 4 barrel was profesionally rebuilt and the throttle bodies where all sleeved so it works flawlessly. This car has a lot of serious power. The trans was not touched and it is the original 400 automatic for this car. The engine is not numbers matching but is period correct. It was out of a 1969 442. The stall converter is a 2000 stall speed. It has the original posi rear still in the car. This car fires right up and runs strong. Replaced: Complete Flowmaster exhaust that was welded on. Headman Headers wrapped. All new brakes with Power front Disc. New power booster and master cylinder. The car was original power 4 wheel drum and I have the front drums and spindle if the buyer wants to go back to original. Also has power steering which makes this car a real pleasure to drive. All new Pearl white interior completely redone. The only original part is the rear bottom seat foam that has not been reproduced as of yet. New carpet with the new sound deadener as original. All new window cranks reproduced for GM. I added a AM/FM CD player. I installed it in a part that would have originally held an 8-track player installed below the dash. There is an original AM cra radio installed in the dash in the original spot. It also has the original speaker mounted under the dash. There are 4 new speakers insalled for the new stereo. 2 are installed in the original kick panels so you still have the original vents that work. The other 2 are installed behind the rear seat back as original. I have an original power antenna installed in the trunk that works fine. Has the original center console with all working lights. New white top that works great. No hesitation and still has the original glass rear window. Original wheels complete with trim rings and inserts. The wheels are painted the same color as the car. The center caps are new. The grill is a brand new original part. the front headlight buckets are original and in excellent condition. The only problems with the car is the wiper motor does not work. I have verified it is the motor and the switch is brand new. The wiring harness under the dash was replaced with an original factory harness from a 1968 coupe. There is also a small rust blister in the wheel well just outside the SS trim as seen in the picture. This is not a show car but it is a very nice driver. It always turns heads as I drive by and always gets a long look at cruise night. This would be a great car to buy and just drive. Please ask any questions and I will be happy to answer them.
