Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very rare low mileage (12,868 miles) 1983 Suzuki GS450A (450cc) AUTOMATIC. This bike had been re-painted a medium blue before we bought it. This bike has always been garage kept since we have had it and we have never ridden it in the rain. This bike runs, shifts, rides and handles really nice. If you can ride a bicycle then you can ride this motorcycle. However, this is not a scooter!!!! I am told this motorcycle will run 100mph+ but I cannot honestly say that I know that for a fact because that is well beyond my limit. I have driven it at 65mph and it does that with no problem. I promise you that you will be impressed with the power this bike has the first time you take off on it. In fact if you are on dirt or gravel you will spin the back tire for a good distance if you are not careful. If you stand beside this motorcycle you cannot tell it is an automatic. It does not have a clutch but it does have a lever on the left side that looks like a clutch lever except it is actually a rear brake lever. Just like a standard motorcycle this bike also has a normal front brake lever on the right side and a foot rear brake on the right side. This bike has two transmission positions. 1. Low 2. Drive. You can use low for starting out on steep hills or if you just want to go really slow. You can put this bike in the drive position and start out from a full stop and go up to full speed and back to full stop without shifting at all. I have just performed the service on this bike. It has a clean air filter, new oil filter, rear differential oil change, new spark plugs and clean carburetors. I have a small motorcycle shop and I performed a laser alignment on the front end of this bike and it runs true and smooth down the road as it should. This bike will come with a full tank of gas. All of the gauges seem to work properly as they should including lights and the fuel gauge. This bike is shaft driven which at the time was unusual because most bikes this size were chain drive. The shaft drive keeps the bike cleaner and makes for a much smoother ride. I have replaced both hand leavers with new ones and installed a new cam chain tensioner. The mirrors were upgraded before we bought it with more of a Harley style mirror instead of the cheaper stock round mirrors that come on this style bike. The seat is in great condition with no cracks or tears. The tires are in good shape with a lot of miles still remaining. This bike starts right up on the first try every time and then idles really good as it should. PLEASE NOTE….The only thing that you might want to do to this bike is the next time you change the oil you may or may not want to change the oil pan gasket which is easy to do. When this bike sits it will have a small bit of a spot of oil coming from the oil pan gasket. I ordered the gasket for it ($10.00) so I could change it when I changed the oil but they sent me the one for a GS450L and they are not the same. This is a very small seepage. If this bike is ran on a regular basis it may go away completely. After a day or two of sitting it may have a spot the size of a dime under it. It is certainly not a problem but I want to let everyone know before they consider bidding. We purchased this bike for the sole purpose of teaching our two sons (18 & 20) how to ride a motorcycle and then to have it available to let them take their drivers test on without worrying about having to shift gears. Mission accomplished! As I said if you can ride a bicycle then you should have no trouble riding this motorcycle. Obviously the only difference is the weight and power. Please keep in mind this is a nice 1983 and not a new 2011. Like with most any bike this age there are various areas of surface rust and scratches. The bike looks nice but I just want to remind everyone it is not new. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hopefully you can tell by our E-Bay feedback that we do not make claims or representations that are not 100% accurate. We have always made it a point to understate the condition of any item we have sold so that when the winning bidder gets the item from us then they are always happy. I would not misrepresent any bike or item we have on E-bay to anyone. As I have said this bike has a fresh service and is full of fuel and ready to go…….all it needs is someone to ride it! This bike is located in Brightwood, Virginia. Brightwood is located on Route 29 approx. 30 miles North of Charlottesville, Virginia and approx. 15 miles south of Culpeper, Virginia. Anyone who would like to see this bike before you bid is more than welcome to come by and look it over.
