Vehicle Detail
This pickup is being re-listed with some revisions in details and a lowered reserve. When I listed the vehicle for a friend of mine I was under the impression that the restoration was "frame off." Last Friday I drove to Vernon to examine the pickup for myself and to drive it. Although the bed and front sheetmetal were removed to sandblast the body and frame, the body was not removed from the frame. The suspension was not painted. I took some pictures of the frame and suspension that I will attempt to add to this auction. You can reach me by phone at (806) 773-1530 or email: travis329@suddenlink.net I apologize for any confusion. 1965 Chevrolet 1/2 ton, short bed, step side pickup. One owner purchased new 12/16/64, was used as a Texas farm truck. When the truck and its owner retired, ownership changed to the owner's daughter who decided to restore it in 2004. The truck was completely disassembled, sand blasted, body worked, and painted the factory "off white" color. When the restoration began, the odometer read 75,000. Since the restoration was completed in 2005, the truck has been driven 200 miles. Below is a list of some of the work and parts that went into the restoration. Runs and drives like new. Clear Texas title. 1. Original 235 6-cylinder engine vated, bored 040, and hardened valve seats installed to increase performance on unleaded gas. Entire engine rebuilt and new pilot bearing installed by D&L Performance Machine in Wichita Falls, Texas. 2. New parts included: radiator, 5 tires, gas tank, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, clutch & pressure plate, hoses, belts, headlight switch, exhaust system, coil, heater motor, turn signal switch, front bed panel, new floor mat, seat belts, fuel sending unit, wiring, bed wood, bed front panel, windshield, door glass, rubber for all windows. 2. Rebuilt parts include: seat, radio, carburetor, and distributor. Bid with confidence. This pickup would make a great daily driver and still attract a lot of attention at shows. Good investment that will increase in value. On Feb-24-11 at 12:44:36 PST, seller added the following information: Hemmings Classic Car Magazine for February 2011, has a 3-page article with pictures concerning the Chevrolet light trucks produced by GM 1960-1966. "GM's 1960-'66 trucks are quite collectible today, with popular pricing guides placing them--perhaps somewhat optimistically--in the $9,000 range on the low end, up to $40,000 on the high end. . . . If you've been pricing Chevrolet cars of this same vintage, a nice Chevrolet truck will seem like an incredible bargain." This is a nice, rust-free example. A copy of the February issue of Classic Car magazine is included in this auction.
