Vehicle Detail
1971 Chrysler Town and Country Station Wagon. Newport body style. 99783 original miles. My father bought this car new in 1971 so it is a one owner car. Original owners manual and some documentation is included. The car has been inside storage past 15 years. The carb has been rebuilt to get the gum out from sitting (reciepts showing rebuild), as well as fuel flushed and a new water pump installed, and a new battery. The car runs, drives, handles and brakes like it was brand new. I will go down the list detailing as much as I can. EXTERIOR: Car is a light metallic blue. The paint is in original condition. The roof surface has started to become weathered but still looks nice. The lower drivers side quarter panel is showing some damage (see pic) but still in one piece. The woodgrain is in excellent condition except for a small point at the drivers side tail light area (see pics). Also some paint rub on passengers side upper door (see pic). The drivers side headlight bezel/caseing is paint rubbed as well (see pic). The bumper chrome is fair. Not show quality chrome but still in decent shape. The stailess trim is in excellent condition. The roof rack has some pitting but in decent condition as well. The glass is tinted all the way around due to the car haveing A/C equiped. The tailgate window works , a bit slow so may need some oiling on the tracks. The tail gate works as a gate or door as pictured. INTERIOR: Blue vinyl interior. Pretty much in mint condition. No cracks on the dash pad, no rips or tears in the seats. No burns or tears in the carpets. Front floor has the one piece rubber mat from Chysler still intact. Door panels are mint shape except for some handmade covers for the armrests on the doors. Car has power door locks, power windows, and power seats. The wagon also has the far rear fold up seat as pictured. Headliner is the perforated fiber board also in mint shape. Dash cluster is in mint shape but the climate controls are non functional from what I am told .The main unit in the engine bay I beleive is bad so my father jurry rigged a bypass valve for heat. Gauges all in working order from what I can tell. The A/C unit and hoses lines and tanks are all present but needs upgradeing to use the R134 refigerant. I am not sure if the cruise works or not. ENGINE: The engine is a 383 big block. The 4 bbl carb was just rebuilt last week and installed due to sitting as stated. New water pump also installed. Engine has never been rebuilt or overhauled or out of the car. Radiator was installed new back in 1995 but driven sporatically for the next five years so practically new radiator as well. As stated there is a valve bypass installed for heat due to the main unit going bad as I am told. The transmission is a 727 torqueflite 3 speed. 8 3/4 rear end with i beleive 3:23 gears ratio. TIRES: The tires are the bias ply tires. They are in very good condition but due to it sitting and the radial tires available now I would suggest to replace them if driven for a long distance. There are no cracks in the tires but better safe than sorry. Thats the only reason I would suggest the car being trailered. All in all this is a near survivor series car. A tru Town and Country Wagon. With a little work this could be a first class show car or beautiful daily driver to car shows. I also have many parts from a parted out 1971 Chrysler Town and Country Wagon as well. Everything from axles, axel houseing, trim pieces, suspension pieces, dash pad, dash frame as well as many other parts to go along with the car. Please do not e-mail me asking what I want for the car I have been burnt on several quotes in the past. I am not interested in trades, sorry. I have more pictures available or any questions or specific details you wish to see or discuss e-mail me and I will reply a.s.a.p. Pick-up is the buyers responability. I accept pay-pal, checks ( but the car does not leave until the check has cleared), money order (again after clearing due to a counterfiet cashiers check made out to me once for 50,000) or cash. Good luck and happy bidding.
