I bought this pickup 9 years ago and was useing it as my weekend driver, and car show truck. I was drag racing it in the pickup class. I also had a 64 chevy pickup 4 years ago that we drag raced. It was running high 11's in the quarter mile with a 350 engine. The cab was junk on the 64 and the suspension and rear end were worn out on the 57. What you see here is the 57 mounted on the 64 frame. I started building the truck to drag race with a goal of the mid 12's in the quarter mile and still be street legal. I built the truck to where I could make some initial timing runs 3 years ago. I made 4 runs with the truck in the low 14's with a 350 engine to make sure everything would handle correctly. I have had some medical problems and will not be able to finish the truck. That is the history here is what we have. The new parts are: a fresh 407 engine, roller rockers, weiand manifold, 750 edelbrock carb. Engine was pressure lubed and ran after the installation. Engine still needs final set up with what ever distributor you select. It was started with a stock hei. Engine was bought as a long block for $4000. New flowmaster exhaust system with y pipe, new fuel cell, new Holley blue electric fuel pump,regulator and fuel lines, New Mickey Thompson 31x50x18.5 rear street legal tires mounted on aluminum drag master wheels with bead locks. The rest of the truck as follows has had 8 passes on the drag strip. Cti stall convertor with a summit built turbo 400 trans, strange axles and studs,posi trac rear end, hooker headers, line lock,tci pro shifter, summit seats and covers, 5 point harness, rear mounted battery disconnect, dual gauges with warning lights, tilt steering wheel. The truck currently does not have power steering or brakes. I have everything to convert both to power, which will come with the truck. The passenger seat has not been installed, I have not finished all of the light wiring, I have everything for the roll cage but have not installed. ( I have not had the heart to cut the roll cage holes in the 57 cab). I am having the windshield reinstalled with a new windshield moulding. The cab has the typical rust in the lower door hinge pockets. I was building a flat bed cover out of polished stainless steel it is not finished but goes with truck.
