1959 Chevy El Camino Restoration or PartsPlease read the following description carefully. If you have a question regarding the vehicle itself which is not answered here, I will not be able to answer it via email. This is because it is being sold for my sister. She will not be able to answer it either. You are very welcome to inspect the car prior to sale to obtain any further information you require. Once again – other than what you see below there is no further information available on this car. In the family since 1984. 264,000 miles, clear title.The car was running as of September 2010 at which time the power steering unit needed replacing. New unit not installed but included with sale. The engine is a 350 Chevy V8 of unknown vintage, not the original 283. Transmission is 1960 3 speed automatic, not the the original 2 speed. Other non original parts include the front bumper, wheels, steering wheel and side window glass which is pexi-glass. There may be other non original parts as well but these are not apparent from my inspection. The windshield and rear glass are original. New passenger side headlight bezel also included. The body is covered in at least one layer of thick brush applied paint. All body panels appear solid – again as far as I can determine. The front of the car is on jacks. This means the car cannot be moved from its present location for any inspection you may wish to make. It can only be inspected where it is now. The car can only be moved once you have bought it – not before. No Exceptions. This item is being sold as is. We've been offered $1000 from strangers on the street for this ole war horse. If I had more, which I dont, they would only be similar to those already on display. The car is in a cramped poorly lit garage. This means images cannot be taken from all sides.Rust: I do not have a definitive answer on this issue. The conditions described above under Photographs apply here as well. Having restored my share of classic cars I fully sympathize with this less than satisfactory circumstance. But please, be reasonable, what are the chances of it being rust free? I've ridden in this car and seen it in full sunlight, the last time in 2008. No rust visible to the naked eye, but I wasnt looking for it either. The same thick hand painted green paint has been on it for years. It looks hideous but in all probability means there is less rust than would otherwise be the case for a car in this condition. I am NOT going to make statements concerning rust which can be construed as misinformation. There's a guy flying in from Germany to view the car. I'd say he's serious. If you are, and need more rust information, please come take a look for yourself!Increased security is making ebay more hassle than its worth - So please, please, please with sugar on top do not contact me asking for further information about the car.
