I have a 1999 Ford Escort 4 door Blue in color with grey interior. 4 cylinder with an automatic. It has 146,xxx miles on it and runs great. This car gets great gas mileage, around 24 - 26mpg. I have had this car for almost 2 years. The person I bought it from had just put new tie rod ends on it and new tires. It has nice aluminum wheels too. The tires are still in great shape with 65 - 75% tread left. New front brake pad were put on the front this summer. The car has some dents (1 dent is on back drivers side door it is not huge but you would notice if you walked up to it), dings, and scratches but nothing major and the body still looks nice. Everything works inside the car and it has a cd player (aftermarket) but i have the stock stereo that I will put with it. Whoever put the stereo in did not put the temperature knob back exactly so hottest is way past the red line and the coldest is in the middle of hot and cold. The oil was changed every 3000 miles. The interior is pretty average for the year but dirty because its winter and its driven every day. The problem with this car is that the transmission in first gear is slipping but it does not happen all the time. Reverse sometimes is hard to go, it goes but you have to give it more gas than usual. There is also a jolt (the trans shifts hard) into 4th gear and it is between 40 and 50 mph and slips some right at 40. The slip goes after 40 but when you stay around 40 it slips. So i think it needs a transmission but I am not for certain . My girlfriend and I share the car and she drives over 40 miles a day to work so we are buying another car. This car would be great if you wanted to put a trans in it, needed a parts car, or any other need you have. There is no rust on the car so the body would be great for parts and the engine starts and runs great so if you need an engine this would be perfect. It does vibrate when it idles but it has done that since we bought the car and does not seem to hinder anything other than be annoying. Some people use these cars for the hornet racecar and this would be perfect because the body is nice and the engine runs great but its almost too nice to do that. The car is nice enough to put a trans in but I do not have the time. This car is by NO MEANS PERFECT but it is overall a nice car that may need a transmission.
