Vehicle Detail
1976 BMW R75/6 Check the bottom of the description for video’s of this bike running and also more pictures. This bike runs strong, is reliable and has just recently made the 3000 mile drive across the country. Clear title. It has a new rear tire (less than 100 miles, cost $170). Front tire is about 50%. Breaks are good strong and have a lot of break pad left. It has just had the front forks rebuilt. The bike’s transmission is starting to make some noise, not all the time, but I would service it before driving it too much. Also the tachometer is not working. Those are the only things wrong with it that I know of. Click to View Image Album About this motorcycle. There are 61,651 miles on the bike. It is titled as a BMW R60/6. In fact it is a BMW 1977 R75/7 Engine in a 1976 R60/6 frame. The engine was replaced in 1988 when the bike was showing 49,360 miles. Along with the engine the proper Bing carburetors were installed. I have a file with detailed records of this work (and other work) from the former owner that will be included with the bike. It also has an auxiliary ignition wiring box so that you could put a windscreen on if you ever wanted. I like this bike. It has treated me well. I bought the bike in July of 2010. I planned to keep it a long time as a daily driver but I found the ‘72 R75/5 that I had always wanted and I can’t justify keeping both bikes. It’s no show bike, it's got a little surface rust here and there, but it will make someone some nice solid vintage daily driver for around town or take it cross the country again! I have mentioned the only two problems (that I’m aware of). I think that honesty is the best policy and that people will be more likely to buy something if they are aware of the problems ahead of time. Any questions? Just ask. Because it’s a vintage bike, it’s being sold as is. Please feel free to email me with any questions that you might have or if you’d like to come see it before you bid. Thanks for looking and good luck with the bidding! No Reserve price so High Bid Wins!! This is the bike starting from cold. 34F air, 34F engine temp. This is the bike driving cold engine, 34 degrees F air. The bike starts up extremely well both on cold and warm days. I just started it up today for the first time since making that video of it (6 days ago). I had to hold the starter for 7 seconds before it started. For the video, I had started the bike about an hour before (I didn't want to look like a fool if for some reason it wouldn't start up!). I let it run for a minute or two and turned it off. I waited an hour to let it fully cool down before taking the video. The start that I had done an hour before was about like today. It took just a few seconds and it fired right up. I don't like to let engines sit too long without letting them run, so I have started this bike every few days even though I haven't been riding it. That's why I'm selling it. It needs to be used, not left sitting in my garage collecting dust. Good luck to you all and let me know if you have any questions!
