Vehicle Detail

No Reserve! Up for auction is my 1985 Mercedes Benz 300 Turbo Diesel. Let me begin by saying that I love this car. Its gets 25 miles per gallon. Actual Miles, and gages work. It has been very good to me since I bought it three years ago. For more than 90% of its life it has lived in the south, which is why it has very little rust. Here in Syracuse I get a lot of attention when I drive it because car's like this are not around anymore. The primary reason I am selling it is because I very recently bought a work truck for my construction business and do not need two vehicles. When I bought this vehicle I flew down to Tennessee and drove it back. Since then, I have taken very good care of it. I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles, maintained coolant levels, and replaced filters and spark plugs as necessary. Apparently the previous owner took very good care of it as well. Pictures do not do the car justice. Upon purchasing the vehicle in 2008, I spent about $2,000 on a vegetable oil system to be installed so it could be possible to drive the vehicle on vegetable oil. The installation was a success. In the main tank, I put diesel and still only put diesel. In the separate tank (in trunk) I could put vegetable oil. There is a computer counsel that allows the driver to switch between the two tanks with the push of a button. It is a very simple process, and the system can be disabled if you have no interest in ever driving on vegetable oil. Just so it is understood, vegetable oil does not hurt the engine. Check out www.greasecar.com for more info on this system. This year I invested $3,805 in the vehicle. When I bought it in 2008 the previous owner invested $1,081 just before he sold it to me. At the bottom of this page you can see part of the list of some of the work that was done. I took photos of what I am talking about. The car drives fine but there is a little bit of rubbing. Some noticeable rust appears in photos above wheel wells and very very lightly in some other places. Some tears/cracks in seats as well as some paint marks. A few trim pieces missing (shown). Some stains are present. I tried to get it in the photos. The hatchback trunk and hood does not stay up by itself, so I use a piece of wood to hold them up. Rear Passenger Side Door Does Not Open Driver Side Window motor is weak. Car needs to be plugged in for a few hours on really cold nights so the fuel is warm so the car will start. Not a big deal. Feel free to call or email me with any questions. Anyone is welcome to test drive it before the auction ends. A $100 deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Please only bid if you are a serious buyer. This is a very special car, and I want the next owner to cherish it as much as I have. However that is the only significant problem with the car and once that is fixed the car will drive really smooth.
