According the the 1966 Sprint registry and from own research I have the earliest produced Mustang Sprint. Produced on January 6th 1966. The car is in need of full restoration and the time it deserves to be back on the road. This is a numbers matching car from Minnesota and has not been registered since 1979. I have had it running on and off but is not drivable. I still have the original chrome air cleaner with the Sprint 200 decal, center console brackets, engine block heater is still present, original AM radio. 42K original miles. I have a KY project title in hand that can be turned into a clear title once restoration has been completed. This is not a salvage title, it was a new process for the state of KY and it allows historical vehicle's to be restored and have a clear title. The car will need new trunk pans, quarters, hood and floor pans and the typical issues repaired. I have a great pass side door and fender in primer to go along with the car. The Mustang "Sprint 200" was a Ford marketing program to celebrate the Millionth Mustang produced and to avoid a production slowdown by shifting demand to the readily-available six cylinder engine. The stock 200 ci (120 horse) six was dressed up with a chrome air cleaner, a special Sprint decal, and a chrome oil-filler cap. Two transmission packages were offered; "A" car having a manual transmission, and "B" cars having C4 automatics. It is estimated that of the total number of "Sprint 200" Mustangs built in the 1966 model year that 75% of them were package "B". Further no extra cost enhancements would be made both in the interior as well as the exterior. For just $39.63 over the base sticker price of $2,398.43, you bought a three speed manual transmission Sprint 200, with center floor console, painted side accent stripes (color matched with the car's interior), deletion of the chrome rear quarter ornaments and a set of deluxe 48 spoke, stainless steel Blue center wire-style wheel covers.
