Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a one owner 2004 BMW Montauk with 121 miles. There were only 350 of the Montauk style built in 2003-2004, and this one is finished in Arctic Blue...a shimmering silvery icy blue. This machine was serviced at the local BMW dealer in early October, and is ready to go. With winter approaching many parts of the country, this bike is perfect for chilly fall rides, since it comes with a very effective windscreen.... and heated grips! Of course here in South Texas, winter riding is rarely an issue. Options on this bike are the chrome engine guard, with touring foot rests, and the chrome accent rail around the seat. The current mileage is subject to change since the bike is ridden weekly to keep fluids fresh, and battery charged. It is also advertised locally and subject to short test rides. Left hand mirror glass popped off, but will be replaced prior to sale.there are no other flaws or issues. The bike has never been down, or ridden in the wet, or bumped or scuffed when parking. It lives in a heated and cooled garage with a protective cover over it. A really nice life for a motorcycle. The 120 or so miles that are on the bike were accumulated while it puttered around the private gated neighborhood, it has never been over 50 miles per hour..nor has it been out on the highway. The following is an excerpt from Motorcycle Cruiser magazine: "The newest member of BMW's R1200 C cruiser motorcycle family is the Montauk. Built on the familiar BMW cruiser platform, the new motorcycle uses the larger wheels and tires (150/80-16 front and 170/80-15 rear) from the 1200 CL touring cruiser introduced for 2003. The legs of BMW Telelever front suspension have been widened and the Monolever rear suspension was reconfigured to make room for the new wheels. The side panels are also a new shape. Up front, the large, round headlight has been raised slightly to make room for a smaller driving light stacked just below it. A new windscreen wraps around the lighting and instruments. A higher handlebar, similar to that on the Phoenix, is used with heated grips, and the Comfort Seat, an option on other R1200 C models, is standard on the Montauk. It has a taller, narrower passenger section. As with other 2004 model-year R1200 motorcycles, the R1200 Cruisers will get the new Two-Spark engine, revised five-speed gearbox and EVO braking system. BMW claims that the two-spark ignition system provides a 5% improvement in fuel mileage, better engine response and reduced emissions but no power increase. The 2004 suggested base price was $14,990 in the Arctic Blue. Other colors are Champagne Metallic, or Black Sapphire Metallic. BMW's hard luggage is available as an option...but not included with this bike. The Montauk is apparently named after a town with a famous lighthouse on eastern Long Island. The town in turn was named for Montauk Sachem, the leader of the Algonquian people living there when Europeans first showed up in the 17th century. If purchased for the buy it now price, $500 will be applied to the shipping charges. I can't imagine finding more than a few bikes in this condition with this low mileage left in the world...so if you ever wanted a like-new Montauk, here is your chance. The bike is paid for, and title is in hand. Terms of sale are cash through paypal, or a wired transfer between bank accounts. Local buyers may present a certified check from a local bank. In any instance, the winning buyer has 12 hours from auction end to pay $1000 via paypal, and the remainder is due within 48 hours...unless other arrangements are made. I will assist in making shipping arrangements, and if you have a carrier of choice, I can work with you to make this a quick and easy transfer. Please ask questions prior to bidding, and remember your bid is binding..and considered a legal offer to purchase. Do not bid if you can't pay for the bike, or if you have ANY negative feedback that is related to not paying for an item you have bid on and won. I reserve the right to sell this bike locally, and will place a notice in this auction if canceling the ad for any reason. I suggest that if you want the bike, and can afford it, you should place your winning bid (or best offer) early in the auction to avoid possible disappointment. THANKS!!!
