Up for auction is a nice 1961 Willys Jeep CJ5 4x4. This Cj5 has the original inline 4 clyinder "F head" motor that cranks very easy and runs great. (every now and again it will put out a small puff of smoke when you change gears....not often). The motor has recently had a oil and filter service, plugs, new exhaust manifold, and new anti freeze installed. The 4x4 works great. Its a low geared pulling, climbing machine. The front wheel bearings have recently been cleaned inspected and repacked along with the king pin bearings. The brakes work very well to be what they are(manual drums) all 4 wheel cylinders and all the brake shoes have been replaced.The parking brake does not work, unknown if the cable is froze up broke or what. The transmission and transfer case are tight and shift smooth, they do not jump out of gear taking off or driving. The speed odometer does not work(unknown why) but the oil, amp, temp and gas guage on the speed odometer work.I was told by previous owner that the wipers and heater work but wires need to be hooked up. I have not tried them since I dont drive it in the cold or rain. I think the body is in pretty good shape from other I have seen this old. There is some rust under the body but its not bad or all the way through. There is a few rust spots on the body (see pics). This vehicle has always been in Ms. and Al. so not as much rust as northern states. Someone has put coat of green paint on vehicle that probably prevented it from rusting more than it has. Paint does not look bad but not the best job in the world either. The undercarriage has been sprayed with rubberized undercoating to prevent anymore rust. The body and frame in all are very soild for its age. There is no top of any kind. The seats have been redone and look very good, the boots on transfer case shifter are new. The tires are new Firestones on white wagon wheels that could stand some paint. I am unsure of the miles on this cj5. I do know that it runs and drives good to be all original. The gas tank is not rusted and has good clean gas in it, no trash. It does drop a few small drops of oil when you park it after driving it awhile. Oil drops would not cover a quarter on the floor. Please look at all the pics and ask any questions before you bid. I have tried to describe this cj5 to the best of my knowldge. I have taken plenty of pics for you as well.
