Only 800 of these diesel coupes were imported into the US annually in 1984 and 1985. This car has just been completely checked out and detailed. It runs and drives very nicely for a 27 year old car. This coupe has been owned the same family from new up to 2009 when it was purchased by a foriegn car mechanic who has owned it until now. The body is in great condition. There are no dents, dings to speak of. The Navy Blue paint is very shiny appears all original. The only blemishes are a few rust bubbles on the leading edge of the hood, on the back edge of the trunk above the tail lights, and a little rust behind both rear wheels. It is certainly still repairable and only noticeable if pointed out. All the chome is in good condition and shines nicely. The glass and trim are in great condition. The alloy wheels look brand new. The interior is very clean. The tan leather seats have held up incredibly well and show little if any where. The dashboard is in very good condition and all the switch gear and guages are working correctly. The only flaw I could find was the blower fan can be noisy at times. The carpeting has been replaced due to a previously leaking sunroof that has long since been repaired. The original carpets were not saved, and instead have been replaced with black carpet. Besides that and a newer CD player installed in the dash, the interior is all original. Mechanically this classic Benz is super nice. I drove the car a few times and was very surprised how well it ran and handled for the vintage. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dash. The bulletproof I-5 Turbo Diesel starts instantly with very little smoke hot or cold. The car has plenty of power and the turbo pulls strong. The glow plugs work and the car will start up on a cold winter morning with very little protest. It has 208,000 original miles, which equals 7,700 miles per year. The automatic transmission shifts like new, which if you are familar with these cars is pretty firm. It was professionally rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago. The car drives down the road straight with no shakes, rattles, or pulls, even at highway speeds. The suspension has been serviced and new KYB struts were installed in the rear. The brakes are firm and strong with no pulsations. The 4 tires have 90% tread remainig. Take this opportunity to own a very clean and original classic Mercedes Diesel. This car will make a faboulous driver in its current condition, and with very little effort could be perfect. It gets a lot of attention since most people have never seen a 300CD or knew Mercedes made a W123 diesel coupe at all. All the original owner's manuals and literature are located in the glovebox.
