You are bidding on my 1999 Toyota Solara coupe. This car is being sold AS IS!! Please read the entire posting so you know all of the issues. We have owned this car since June, 2009. It performed flawlessly for a year and a half. There were virtually no problems at all until recently. The 6 cylinder 3.0L engine always started on the first turn and as a matter of fact continues to start on the first turn. The automatic transmission has been perfect, the air ice cold and the heat steamy hot. The body is in great shape. Of course there are a few scratches and door dings, but it is in great shape for the year. The interior is nice and the sunroof works perfectly. The rear brakes make some noise, but the front brakes have new rotors and pads. The only othe problem is that the heater blower motor only works when it is on high. The tires still have plenty of tread left. I am going to remove the stereo and put it in another car. If I still have the stock stereo I will include that. Three weeks ago my daughter and son brought this car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. Again, up till that point there was no problems whatsoever. The next day, my daughter told me there was a hot smell coming through the air vents into the passenger cabin. I checked it out and told her that Jiffy Lube probably spilled a little oil onto the engine and it should be fine. Well, the next day she told me there was still a hot smell and the exhaust was smoking. Sure enough, smoke was coming out the tail pipe and also from the side of the engine which faces the front of the car. I checked the oil and it was slightly low. The antifreeze level was normal. My first thought was that this was a head gasket problem as the smoke was white and seemed to linger around after shutting the car off. My daughter brought the car to the Toyota dealer in Dekalb, IL. They kept the car for a day and called to tell me that it was burning oil very badly. They couldn't give me an exact remedy but the worst case scenario is a complete engine rebuild or replacement engine --neither option appeals to me. I am sure someone with mechanical knowledge and tools can save this awesome car, but I don't have the will-power to deal with it anymore so I am just getting another car and selling this one on ebay. So there you have it. The car looks great and as a matter of fact still sounds fine -- no knocking or grinding noises at all. This car still sounds great and smooth !!! It just smokes like crazy. If you know how to work on cars please buy it and fix it. I am selling this project at NO RESERVE !!!! It will be sold to the highest bidder at the end of the auction!! It cleans up quite nicely, but it has been very very cold so I was unable to wash it before this video was taken.
