Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1988 Jeep Wrangler with a good running 4.2 engine and smooth shifting automatic transmission. I bought this Jeep back in early November from a car dealer near Toledo Ohio with a blown motor and transmission. It was bought with intentions to resell as Jeeps are very desirable. I got it running in December and have been driving for the past month. The motor always starts and the transmission shifts fine. The car fax shows the Jeep spent the majority of its life in Texas and Florida which explains why the frame is not rusted out like nearly all Ohio Jeeps. Body has been repainted and shows no surface rust. Jeep is an 8 on a scale of 1- 10; 10 being best, as the body is not perfect and has several imperfections that can been seen when close up, but look good from 10 feet away, and the motor has a top end ticking noise as heard in video. Motor runs and drives fine, but I want to mention any issues. I would not fear driving this Jeep to California, and if compensated for my time, fuel, and airline ticket home, I would do it for the winning bidder. This Jeeps auction will be run with no reserve, so the highest bidder will own it regardless of final price. I feel ebay auctions should always have a winning bidder and placing a reserve price on listings only takes away from the auction experience. My zip code is 45248 and my cell phone is (419) 345-1856 if you have any questions. I understand its unnerving buying a vehicle sight unseen on ebay so I request that the bidder ask any questions by email or phone. If you live close enough we can set up a time to look at the Jeep. A $200.00 refundable deposit on Jeep is required within 24 hours of the auction closing to cover ebays high fees. If winning bidder wants to pick up the Jeep within 24 hours the paypal deposit is not required. The deposit is non refundable if the winning bidder fails to pick up or at least pay in full by the required time set on this auction. I can not afford to store this Wrangler while the winning bidder acquires the funds. I want make it clear that if you examine the Jeep and find I have not listed it accurately I will not hold you to buying it and will still leave positive feedback on your account along with refunding your deposit. I am not using ebay to scam people out of money, its a great marketing tool to get my items to the most viewers. If your feedback is less than 10 positive I ask you to send me your full name and phone number through "contact seller" or I'll be forced to cancel you bid and block your name. I can help with shipping as long as the Jeep is paid for in full and we come to an agreed upon price to haul it to you. If you choose not to use paypal or are not familiar with how to please call me, 419 345 1856 so we can talk. I know a lot of folks I sell to are concerned about potential scams regarding online transactions. Exterior: Body appears to have been painted in last 5 years. Body work was done in a presentable way but up close is apparent its not a $5000 paint job. All glass in good condition, no cracks, no rust visible on exterior of body. Tires and aluminum wheels are nearly new and hold the road well. Hard top is fiberglass, rear window frame is steel and is pushed in on drivers side as shown in photo near spare tire. I can not open the back tail gate with the Keys I have so I believe it will need a separate key cut for it. Underbody shows surface rust in areas. Frame is in good shape with surface rust in spots but no structural integrity issues period. Headlights, taillights, turn signals all work. Wipers work, horn does not work. Hard top is removal as are the doors for fun in the sun summer driving. Drivetrain: I have driven two full tanks of fuel out of this Jeep to make sure all issues are shaken out of it prior to selling it. Besides the on and off ticking sound that can be heard when you start the Jeep cold I would say there are no issues with the motor or transmission. It shifts fine, downshifts when climbing grades, etc. 4x4 works great, 2 wheel drive, 4 high and 4 low all work fine, but the 4x4 light stays on regardless of gear selection. I replaced the rear main seal on the motor and the front pump seal on the transmission to ensure the Jeep would have no leak issues. I installed a new transmission filter and oil pan filter. I believe the universal joints are newer as they looked fairly clean while working on it. Starter also appears newer. Brakes stop the Jeep quickly. Driving the Jeep down the interstate I feel safe driving 65mph as the power steering is tight. Interior: The inside of the Wrangler is basic. I bought vinyl stain to color the door panels as they were originally cream colored. Drivers seat has the stitching coming out on the seat. Heater blows hot, radio works, dash lights work behind the Speedometer and Tach but are intermittent behind the other gauges, leading me to believe a loose wire needs attention. Floor is completely solid, no rust holes. I know this Jeep is in good condition and am certain the new owners will love driving it. Thanks for reading my auction. Chad McKinney
