Vehicle Detail
Fresh out of storage and ready to go! This original and clean car is straight, accident and rust free. Originally purchased in Medford, Oregon at Morse Motors, it has stayed in Southern Oregon. The original service book and owner's manual are present and in good shape. Also present is a note book with fuel records from 59,055 miles to 74,611 miles. Also found in the glove box were repair receipts, one of which was for an engine overhaul at 51,136 miles on 10/88 when photographer Christopher Briscoe owned it. The 4 cylinder engine runs great, and the 5 speed transmission shifts good. The car has been painted at some point in it's life. It appears to be the original color and while it's not concourse, it is very presentable driver quality. There are a couple of spots where tree sap has dripped on it that could easily be removed by a detailer. It doesn't appear that the car had many miles put on it since the paint job because there aren't any rock chips. As with all unrestored vehicles of this era, it is not new. Things like the rubber parts are showing their age, the door locks could stand to be lubed and a professional detail would do the car wonders. This is, however a great chance to drive an unmolested example and tinker with it as you like. The original jack and tool kit are also present. Since bringing the car out of storage, the shift linkage has been rebuilt along with three of the brake calipers that were sticking. Under the hood, the only thing I see that isn't correct is the air filters. Inside, I'm not sure about the speakers on the parcel shelf, but they don't look 1967. The interior would definately benefit from a professional detail. Everythign is in good shape, but there is some stictching coming apart on the driver's headrest and there's a small split on the passenger's door arm rest. The headliner is nice and the dash is uncracked. It has a wood wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, which appear original. I'm selling this for a friend, and will do my best to answer any questions you may have. If you 912 fans notice anything I've missed, please don't hesitate to mention it since I'm a Saab guy. Also, please note the time when this auction is ending. I often get people who email after the auction ends saying they missed it and could I relist it. No, please bid early. I'm usually not at my computer at the time the auction is ending, so please ask questions with enough time for me to answer them. If you'd like to have a third party look at it, I can make arrangements to show the car. It is for sale locally, so I may end the auction at any time.On Dec-24-10 at 22:48:24 PST, seller added the following information:Just wanted to respond to the most common questions. First, please read the discription carefully. It might answer some of your questions. The car does run and drive great. The engine starts cold and hot without any issues. It does not smoke or make any unsual noises. It accelerates smoothly with no dead spots. The engine # is 751189. It has minor oil leaks. It might leave a drip or two after driving it. I drove it down the freeway the other day at 80 mph and it was solid. The battery is new. There is some minor rust bubbles on the passenger side rocker panel. The understructure of the car, including around the pedal assemble bracket is solid. I do not believe the car has ever been is an accident. There is no evidence of body work that I can find. The date codes on the road wheels match, 7/66. The spare is 5/66. The owner purchased this from a very reputable speciality car dealer who stated that the mileage and condition was original. The car does not have an auxilary heater in the trunk. It has a lever in front of the gear shifter that is supposed to control the heat. This lever feels like it is not hooked up. I may have accidentally disconnected it when I replaced the shift linkage bushings, or it may just operate really smooth, or it may pull the parachute to help slow the car down, I don't know. With the engine and transmission oil changed and the spare tire aired up, I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. As for it being for sale locally, it was for $11,000. I've decided to let the ebay auction go until the end and not stop the auction early. If you travel to view the car in person before the auction ends and want to buy it right then, I'll have you enter your price on the auction page. If you win the auction and that price is around or over $10,500, I'll deliver the car within a 300 mile radius for $100, which would basically be splitting the cost of fuel and saving you the time driving to my house again. If you want to negotiate a delivery cost with me after the auction ends and the price is well below $10,500, I am open to that. If you win the auction and there is a major difference in the actual condidtion versus the advertised discription, I will refund the purchase price. I hope all this is clear and understandable. Pleaase feel free to call my cell with any questions. Thanks! Josh 541-531-9995
