Very cool and historically significant 1961 Pontiac Safari Super Stock with great paperwork and race history. The car was campaigned by Frank Lumley and Ron Sanders and was very successful and well known. The car set and held 5 National Records and was featured in Super Stock and Drag Illustrated Magazine back in 1969. Car is completely documented with a stack of papers including many early pictures and time slips, hand written racing notes from the driver, Super Stock Magazine issue from 1969, and owner history. I included a few of the pictures Ron Sanders provided which show some of the other paint schemes it raced under. Can be street legal or nostalgia race ready. The engine is a bored and balanced 4-bolt main 455 (now 468ci) with 1969 #48 heads and was built by one of the most respected Pontiac guru's in the world Scott Tiemann. The car has a 4.88 rear end along with a line lock brake system. The car is in very solid condition both cosmetically and mechanically as it underwent a complete restoration in 1999 and hasn't been driven a lot since. The racing paint scheme on the car is all hand painted like they did it back in the day and not decals. That is something not a lot of people are going to pay the extra money to have done during the restoration and gives it a very nice and authentic vintage racing look. This cool looking and fully documented 5x National Record setting Super Stock with an engine built by one of the worlds premier Pontiac restorers is going to be a fun and solid investment for somebody. I doubt you will find another car with the history and documentation of this car anywhere near this price.
