Vehicle Detail
This is a 2002 Dodge Caravan minivan. It currently has 211,766 miles on it and the VIN is 1B4GP25BX2B734164. This is a former school transportation vehicle in a rural Western Massachusetts town. It has been fleet maintained and in very good shape for its age and mileage. The van is equipped with a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The previous owner, a school bus operator, indicated that the transmission was “recently” rebuilt. However, I have no additional information beyond that claim. I can state that the transmission appears to shift fine when the vehicle is yard driven. This is a weak spot on the Chrysler minivans and the first thing that I check when looking at any of them. The van is not registered, so I have no been able to formally road test the van. I have driven it in the yard and on gravel roads at speeds up to 25-30 mph. The van is silver and has a medium gray cloth interior. It has air conditioning, dual airbags, a stereo cassette and two rear bench seats. It also has dual sliding doors. The school bus equipment that was used is still on the van, so it would be ready for service in many states if a small bus operator is interested in this vehicle. That equipment includes the lighted sign (which can be found new on eBay for a few hundred dollars so this used one could possibly by sold by the new owner if not needed), a Vertex two-way radio and a fire extinguisher. The van starts right up and has no warning lights on. The steering feels tight. There might be a slight clunking noise in the front suspension that I observed while driving on a gravel road – it is very slight and seems normal for the age and mileage, but I still wanted to note it. The A/C is cold. The brakes feel good with no pulsating. The parking brake works. The van yard drives excellent. The owner’s manual is included. The interior is clean with no rips or tears that I observed. The only issue that I saw was that the plastic cover for the hood release is missing. The cable can still be pulled though and the hood opens fine. The van last underwent a state inspection in Massachusetts in 12/09. On March 19, 2010, it underwent a tougher school bus safety inspection and passed. It has not been more recently inspected. The vehicle is located in Lyman, Maine. There is no warranty and it is being sold as is with no reserve. Viewing and pick-up of the vehicle is by appointment only. If you have any questions, please let me know.
