Vehicle Detail
1996 Subaru Outback Blue History: 2 owners, I’ve owned it since 2000 when it had 58,000 miles on it in Minnesota. Clear Title, Registered in Maryland Use: I’ve driven it as my sole vehicle since I owned it. It has seen probably half of it’s miles on the freeway, going from Washington state to Minnesota, South Carolina to Minnesota, Maryland to Minnesota, Etc. I also commuted to work with it up until 2006 when I started commuting by motorcycle unless the weather precluded travel by 2 wheels. It has also hauled a small <1000 lb boat trailer on a couple of the freeway trips, and a <1500 lb trailer hauling firewood for my house a couple times. Mechanical: 2.2L Flat 4-cylinder Gas Engine, gets about 25 miles per gallon, still running strong and I’ve never had to add oil between oil changes. Over 186,000 Miles, and I’m still using it as a grocery getter. <80,000 miles on 5-speed Manual Transmission; I swapped out the old transmission at about 180,000 miles because it got damaged while running out of gear oil. New-used transmission very smooth. New Clutch Installed with Transmission All Wheel Drive, makes for sure-footed performance on the wet and snowy roads. I replaced the brake rotors, calipers, brake lines all within the last 3 years. I replaced the right front wheel bearing and housing in 2009. The right front half axle was replaced in 2004 because of a torn u-joint boot. A/C blows hot, but needs a charge of R-134 to blow cold. Battery < 1 year old New exhaust system installed in 2009 Timing Belt replaced by Dealer 2003 @ 108000 miles Maintenance: I’ve done most of the maintenance on the vehicle to keep it running in excellent running condition. This includes: Oil Changes , has New oil(10W-30) & filter Radiator Flushs Brake Pads, Rotors, Brake Fluid and bleeding, Calipers Car Washes and Waxes, Vacuuming, Etc. Battery Maintenance Shop Manual on CD comes with the car Wheels & Tires: Stock Aluminum Rims in good shape Michelin Mud and Snow with plenty of tread left on them Bought at Costco in 2009 Interior: Original floor mats in the front, rubber in the back. Cargo mat and roll-up cover in great shape. Cloth seats in good condition, no tears or signs of heavy wear. Might be a few dog hairs left after I vacuumed. Puppy nail indentations on the door panels by the windows, but not really noticeable. Body & Cosmetics: The paint over most of the car is in great condition because I routinely waxed the car for most of the time I’ve owned it. The hood has some blemishes, I think because of a poor repaint job during hail repair in 2001. No rust. Last winter, during Snowmaggedon, I was backing up and the drivers side door swung open as it hadn’t latched as I thought it did. The door bent back a few inches and left a crease in the door panel. The door still closes without any leaks. All the electrics, including the door locks and window controls still work, but the driver’s side window needs a little help from getting stuck on the way back up from fully down. I can show you this trick and explain it further. The rear quarter-panels have small rust spots starting. I’ve seen this same thing happen on other Subies. There are a couple window chips that were repaired in 2004, and have not grown into cracks since. In 2003, I backed into a pole, so the rear bumper is not perfect, but is still in working condition and will not fall off like the plastic crap they make now. The car has never been in an accident with another vehicle or animal. Extra Features: Cold Weather Package (heated seats, mirrors, and engine block heater) Draw-Tite Class 2 trailer hitch with ball K&N Air Filter
