Vehicle Detail

If you're one of the watchers from the original listing please re-read as we've added some details. We did not relist for a week because we had two interested parties that wanted to see the car in person, but neither ever made it in to town to see it and one of them has already made a purchase so it's still available and we're re-listing. If a test drive is possible I highly recommend it before purchasing another car in the same price range (or even higher for that matter) and will do my best to accomodate schedules. We are in the San Mateo/Foster City area just south of San Francisco and North of Silicon Valley on the Peninsula. I can be reached by my mobile phone @ 650.670.0627 for faster response on questions. No RESERVE Auction starts at over $1K under low blue book. A cooler car for under $5K (actually even more) simply does not exist! Loaded AWD SVX LSi with about 120K miles driven mostly by my wife on the Hwy. Vehicle had 23K miles when we bought it from a wealthy car collector who had to sell it so his wife would let him get his new Porsche! Mechanically it must be one of the tightest SVXs in existance today. Runs strong, smooth, and quiet with a Boxer Six engine that has been impecibly maintained. Minor mechanical issues include speedo not functional (replaced sending unit so must be actual instrument that needs to be replaced; Odometer actually reads 115,515, but car has been driven periodically around town to keep battery charged and fluids flowing and on a fixed route to work for a short period of time that factored into the estimate of 5K additional miles entered here; realistically probably less additional actual miles as car has not been driven regularly since shortly after speedo stopped working due to a new baby and new vehicle), window switch (works but is loose), powder coating on wheels needs to be re-done so tires leak slowly from bead not sealing perfectly. Aesthetically, it could use some love and detail work to cherry out aesthetic issues including clear coat oxidation or cracking in places, minor door dings, cracked windshield, some cracking on leather on top of back seats and sides of front seats, but looks good for it's age and has aged rather elegantly (see pics). Love and care while in our hands included a dedicated HP transmission cooler installed at less than 30K miles and tranny ran with Redline Synthetic whole time so unlike many SVXs this one's tranny is strong, powder coating of the wheels and paintless ding repair of some door dings and the standard 3K mile oil changes with Mobil One, alignments, tires, and some performance upgrades such as composite brake pads, stainless brake lines and new rotors all the way around, mass air intake (to improve the throttle response; stock box currently installed in car for smog visual which was passed in '09; mass air intake comes with car and includes instructions), Koni dampeners (really make the car handle a lot nicer with less body roll in turns and bounce on the freeway; same ride height as stock and NOT A STIFF RIDE AT ALL...still very comfortable "Sports Touring" type ride quality), racks for bike or skis or snowboards (not currently installed will come with), all weather mats, and a couple of new batteries and new alternators along the way with the current battery and alternator practically brand new. Oh, and it has a new set of 225/50/ZR16 Potenzas on it with a high speed balance and recent alignment. This car is very reliable and economical to drive which is surprising given how exotic and fun to drive it is, but not so surprising when you remember it's a Subaru! My wife drives a small SUV now because we have a baby and the SVX is sitting even though she's not too fond of the idea of selling it (either am I --- just not practical for us to keep)! Someone will be stoked on this special car... At 73,669 we replaced the rear wheel bearings and had them repacked with Redline Synthetic Moly grease (one of them was beginning to whine so I replaced both of them; a common problem with SVXs that has already been handled and improved upon with this one). At 71,894 we had the a major tune up done where the following parts where replaced with new ones and the Tranny was supplemented with a new cooler kit, replaced filter, and refilled with Redline Synthetic again (I switched it to Redline Synthetic when I bought it at 23K miles and installed first tranny cooler kit): New Timing Belt, Idler Bearings, Pulleys, Belts, and Hoses. If you're a tuner/enthusiast check out the following site for how easy and cost effective it is to tune a SVX into a Japanese supercar: http://svx-motorsport-accessories.stores.yahoo.net/ Thanks for Looking!
