Vehicle Detail
A very nice 1993 Metro with only 87,000 adult 2-owner miles. Runs and drives like a new one. Always kept very clean, it even smells good inside! 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine, runs like new, no smoke, leaks just a little oil from the cam cover but not much. Mobil 1 oil since I have had it, changed every 3000 miles. Automatic transmission, shifts as it should, no issues. Shifter works perfectly, is clean, indicator works and light for indicator still works. Factory air conditioning works perfect, blows cold. All heat and A/C controls are in good shape and work perfectly. All mechanical components in top notch condition, needs no work of any kind. Jump in and drive cross country with no worries. Original paint from factory, never any bodywork. Car had a collection of small dings, dents and scratches when I got it and I have added a few, but they are all small. Has complete body kit with both Firefly and Swift rear spoilers, in good condition. Firefly spoiler has usual cracks from being removed from the Pontiac Firefly donor, one in the passenger side lower corner and one where the rear wiper would go through. Can be seen in the picture of the rear of the car. The Swift spoiler on top of the hatch is perfect. The side skirts and front spoiler are near perfect, minor scratches only. Interior is very, very nice, I changed from the factory sedan seats to 91 Metro Convertible seats, better looking and ride lower. They only have one small worn area from getting in and out of the car, can be seen in the picture of the interior in the lower right corner. There is an inserted close up of the seat with the worn spot circled. Rest of the interior and seats are near perfect. Has a rear storage area cover from a 92 LSI wagon added and rear speakers are solid mounted to it with a support added underneath. There is an added support strut rod for the rear hatch gas shocks, it latches when opened and has to be released to close the hatch. They are the factory struts and the added weight of the spoilers make the latching rod necessary. Has a Sony Xplod stereo system with 6 speakers and a 10-CD changer in the trunk that reads MP3s. Inserted picture of head unit that also controls changer in upper right corner of interior picture. Grant Signature series steering wheel. Rota Auto-X 16 inch black and chrome-red wheels in near new condition, very few scratches and NO curb rash. Nice tires with tons of tread, you won't need tires for another 25,000 miles or more. They are balanced pretty good but one has a very slight shake above 65 MPH, and I can't figure out which one it is yet. I think it is on the rear, though. No damage to glass, lights, lenses, mirrors, etc. at all. The only thing really wrong at this time is that the antenna is broken. The earlier models had a one piece solid rod antenna that was indestructible, but this model came with an adjustable hollow core antenna that broke in your hand the first time you adjusted it, or so it seems. I broke this one several times and finally got one of the solid ones which is in the trunk and will go with the car. The broken one still functions good enought to recieve nearby stations, but I have the CD changer full of my favorite music and seldom use the radio, so changing it just has not gotten done yet. These cars get phenomenal gas mileage, the hyper-milers on the web sites claim 59 miles per gallon. I have a 92 Convertible with the 5-speed I have personally gotten 52 MPG with, but my best with this particular car has been 39 MPG. The automatic and A/C hurt the mileage somewhat, as do the wide tires. Usually it gets 32 to 34 MPG with no effort. PHONE NUMBER IS EMBEDDED IN THE PICTURES FOR EASE OF READING, AND TO PREVENT SPAM/SCAMS. WILL TRADE! Looking for a 1968 Chevy Short Bed pickup with a 350 in good shape and a rust-free cab. Will trade up or down, as long as the pricing of the truck is appropriate to it's condition, although rustbuckets or show trucks above $6000 won't stand much of a chance. Might go for the right C3 Corvette, 78 or up. Thanks for looking! ADDED ON 12/04 I have had a bunch of people on me about the price, which is, of course, obviously high for a 1993 Geo Metro. Most of THEM are obviously from 14 year old pimply faced kids with no money, no girlfriend, no life, so they want to feel powerful and intelligent by demonstrating that they can spot the obvious. But not all of them. I recently had one asking how I came up with the price, and it occurs to me that this is a pretty good, reasonable question. I answered him, then realized I should probably post the answer here too so everybody could see it and see where I am coming from on this price. Wheels/tires cost $1300, Stereo nearly $700, Steering Wheel and Billet mount kit $250, Parts for body kit $400. I gave $3000 (cheap!) in 2002 for it with only 12,000 miles, I was 48 in 2002. It has had meticulous care , Mobil 1 oil and Napa Gold or Mobil 1 filters, for the last 8 years and has had only a college educated, middle aged adult male upper management type (me) driving it, no wrecks, no crazy sh*t. I like vehicles dolled up, been dolling them up since I was a kid, and did this one in the teen "bling" style. I like it. Some people don't, this is not the car for them. Somehow 50's low rider or 60's jacked up Hot Rod styles just did not seem appropriate. And I gotta say I just love all that color and all those wings! For less than the cost of the wheels, tires, stereo and steering wheel, you can own it and drive it for another 100,000 miles. Free car! The KBB price is for a typical 153,000 mile, 12 inch wheel, plastic pukey wheel cover, AM/FM pushbutton radio rustbucket-on-it's-third-cheap-Earl-Scheib-paint-job Metro that some teenager has been playing "Dukes of Hazzard" with and has not had an oil change in the last 35,000 miles. And that has seats set way up high so grandma can see over the wheel. Nine months ago I went to Nashville Tennessee and looked at two 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Cars. One was immaculate, only 19,000 miles and like new inside and out. Owner asked me $25,000 and I now think that was a good price. I went across town and looked at another with 128,000 miles, an amateur nasty paint job that was 15 years old and awful, a usable interior, rusty wire wheels, and a replacement motor (the second) and 700r4 transmission. Motor would start and idle, but the minute you touched the gas it would die. I bought it for $3000 and afterward thought I got screwed. It needed so much to get it back roadworthy that I couldn't believe it, and when I got done I had such a bad taste in my mouth about it that I unloaded it last month at $5800 and lost money. The $25K car would have been a better buy. KBB is not the whole story, just a place to start. Condition plays into it, and this is most likely the nicest 93 Met left on planet earth. If you want a nice one, better get it before somebody else does. If you don't, well, then why the h*ll bother asking? I'm just saying. Seriously, I will gladly talk to you about the car, the price, whatever, no problem. I bought a 2009 Challenger SRT8 two years ago and the Met has seen maybe 1500 miles in those two years, I just don't drive it anymore, it sits in the garage under a cover and collects dust. My daughter has a 99 Lumina that is limping pretty badly, and she is making noises about wanting me to give her the Met, and it may come to that. But she never washes a car, never checks the oil, never vacuums it out, and I can't bear to watch her slowly destroy such a nice little car. If I sell it I will use the $$$ to help her buy another early 2000s GM sedan that will take her three or four years to kill. I won't have spent all that time rubbing on it and taking care of it so I won't care what happens to it. If you wanted it without the stereo, I could pull it, head unit, CD changer and all six speakers and put it in the truck I am hunting when I find one later on. I would knock $400 off for the stereo alone. The wheels don't fit anything I have, and I don't have the originals, so no room to negotiate there. Nothing else on the car is useful in dolling up a 68 Chevy shortbed pickup to my taste (slammed with Coy C-5 wheels), so that is about the best I could do. I will probably run the auction one or two times more if it does not sell this go round, it will sell only to the right person and I have plenty of time to wait until I find that person, no hurry. Call me! The Gibster ADDED ON 12/05 I got to thinking about the price, and wondering if it really was high, and if so, how high. So I searched here on Ebay to see what the "competition" - so to speak - was offering up for sale and for how much. The results were surprising. Only 3 other similar Mets nationwide, 2 of those currently at prices lower than mine and neither of those at the reserve yet. How much is their reserve? Can't tell. But this one - item number 150526837452 - has 1800 more miles than mine, is 2 years older and is the stripper model that stickered for $1200 less than mine. It has no options whatsoever, no amenities, no upgrades, nothing. Drivers seat is slightly torn but not near as bad as most. Check out the pictures, interior, etc. Car looks pretty good condition wise but the owner does not give a whole lot of info. And the price? It is within $175 of my minimum and not yet at the reserve. No extras. UPDATE Car went to $2251 but did not meet reserve. Let's look at another one. This one - item number 180596393148 - is a pretty nice Met, and is the closest to being in similar condition to mine. It has less miles - 80,000 - and is currently a lot cheaper at a bid of about $600. But the reserve is not met yet, and again, no way of knowing how high they have it set. It will close 3 days after mine and I will be watching to see how high it goes. This is not the stripper model, and the pictures look pretty good. No record of accidents, but why was the rear bumper cover replaced and painted? Owner does not know because they are admittedly just flipping the car. I think this one will go a lot higher, maybe $2800 - $2900, maybe more. Will be very interesting to watch. UPDATE 12/07 this car is at $2650 and still not meeting reserve! Probably reserved at about my Buy-It-Now price or more. The other one - item number 120654499865 - has 47,000 more miles than mine and is reserved at $100 higher. No wheels, no stereo, it does have an aftermarket shift knob but that is about it. No comparison really. UPDATE car has met reserve of $2500. After this research, I think I'm cheap on the car. You decide for yourself. Thanks for looking! The Gibster ADDED ON 12/07 Almost a thousand views! Wow! And they don't show it here but on my account it shows that no less than 26 people have it on their watch list. Getting calls from Ohio, Alabama and Oklahoma. 2 offers below the start price but I am going to wait and see, I think it will sell for that or more. Way more interest than I would have thought. Neat! After seeing where the others have gone, I KNOW I am cheap on the car. Just have not had the right person see the auction yet! Thanks!!
