Vehicle Detail
Yes sir, a real cream puff....ok not really. But this just might be the project you are looking for. Runs and drives, has operating brakes, starts well and easily. I'll lace the honest description with a little humor just for effect....... This was a farm truck and after the owner ran the original motor into the ground he took (we think) his wifes LTD Brougham and took the 400 cid and C-6 transmission out of the LTD and into this truck. It was a good swap. They even took the brougham seat out and into this truck too (actually fits good and with the center arm rest and head rests it makes it comfortable). I hope the farmer bought his wife a new ford (farmers that buy fords don't ever ever buy their wives buicks....). As you can see it is a long bed. Body has its share of surface rust, but the sheetmetal is amazingly straight and the rust is mostly superficial. Rockers and wheelwells are especially strong with plenty of metal. The top of the cab has good metal but the passenger seam on the roof will need seam compound. All of the glass is there...the windshield has wiper burn along the radius of the blades. Window mechanisms are there but stiff. Back glass is good. The worst part of the body is the tailgate upper portion is sprung from a load that was too heavy. Tailgate closes and opens, but is bent outward at the top, has rust, and is probably a goner (should be replaced). From what I can tell the floorboards are intact, with little rust penetration. I noted the footwell on the drivers side nearest the wheelwell is rotted thru as is a part of the door opening step. Looking under the cab, I didn't see any other rust thru...ditto for the bed of the truck. The frame rails are rusty, but appeared strong and I did not detect collapsing or failure. The crossmembers are more rusty than the frame rails with the radiator support member and transmission member causing me some concern (flaking rust of the members). Exhaust is rusty and broken just after the header pipe on both sides. For the women reading this, that means it needs new exhaust from the pipes that go under the truck (please no hate mail, it won't do any good, I am ruined.) This creampuff is driveable, but I would not recommend a drive home for any distance, therefore I am going to suggest that it be trailered or transported before any miles are put on it. I have not inspected the brakes, but the truck stops without issue. Engines starts and runs, although the idle is too high for my taste. Does not smoke no weird noises. Transmission shifts easily into the gears, but the crummy mustang (looks like even a mustang II) shifter is nearly worthless. The shifter is so sloppy, that one time when I shifted into drive my cell phone dialed canada....... The headlites, dash lites, courtesy interior lamp, left turn signals, left rear run lite work. The rest don't. I didn't check the cigarette lighter, but will if you ask me very nice..... Clear Michigan title, but the truck is in San Antonio Texas....OK actually Canyon Lake where this truck fits right in. Buy it, and I'll throw in the Indiana license plate, absolutely no charge. Clean carfax!! Naw, I don't know anything about a carfax, when I typed the VIN into the car fax website, their website crashed. I don't know what else I should put in here, but lets be realistic. This is a collectible old Ford, runs and drives, has plenty of rust, but plenty of good stuff too. With the newer V8 and the auto trans, the hardest work has been done. Please don't ask me if the car can be driven to Kansas or elsewhere, I'll just answer that I don't suggest a road trip in ANY old vehicle you don't know well. This truck will easily load onto a transport or trailer, so there won't be an issue with transport or transporters. Please bid on this truck. My partner (not as in domestic) is mad at me for buying it in the first place (since we have about 3 years of "projects" that need for me to get finished) and I'd like to impress him that we can get a few dollars more than the $3K we paid for it (oops, I meant $300). Damn, was it $118 ? Anyway, please bid. The truck can be stored for up to 30 days at no charge, and after that we can arrange some modest charge to help you with picking it up. Title happily sent by overnite courier upon full payment. If you want to trade something, we are all ears (my partner really has big ears) and if you just can't live without this truck, make us an offer. I get really big ears too when it comes to offers and money. I'd really get excited if you could trade me one of those "big ears" from the 60's, plus some cash. If you need anything more, feel free to give me a call, 210/391-0181. Fine print: I made this small 'cause I could, but really dislike the fine print, so I'll make this big again.......There is no warranty on this vehicle, it is for sale as is and where is. I go to great lengths to accurately and honestly describe anything I place here on ebay intending to leave nothing to interpretation. I will answer questions quick, I welcome a vehicle inspection and expect any buyer or bidders to understand the Ebay/auction process. You can see my feedback over the last 10 years and understand that I am infinitely fair and attempt to resolve problems. Your bid is a contract. I'm glad to assist in shipping or transport, or storing the vehicle until you pick it up. Please make all arrangements prior to auction end. I don't negotiate the sale or terms after the auction ends...that wouldn't be fair to anyone. thanks for reading and happy holidays On Dec-02-10 at 06:45:02 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: THIS IS A F-250 3/4 TON MODEL, NOT THE 1/2 VERSION AS STATED IN THE TITLE HEADER. I WAS WONDERING WHY THE SUSPENSION SEEMED SO STIFF!!!! SOME HAVE ASKED ABOUT THE MILEAGE, AND I CAN'T REMEMBER IF THE SPEEDO EVEN WORKED, BUT WHATEVER THE ODOMETER SAYS IS ONLY A GUESS AS TO THE ACTUAL MILEAGE. THANKSOn Dec-02-10 at 09:16:51 PST, seller added the following information: OK, sometimes the questions are a leeeetle weird....... "Does the windshield wiper work?". Either I was amazingly clear in my description or the "one" thing I missed was the wipers!!! Yes, they work. taaadaaaaa..........
