Vehicle Detail

It breaks my heart to be writing this....up for sale is my 1999 Ford Contour SVT. This is a very limited production (11,445 total) vehicle designed and modified by Ford and the Special Vehicles Team. Unfortunately I need to sell my baby due to my family situation changing. I now need a vehicle that can easily transport my two dogs - especially my 75lb Labrador. This car is one of only 379 in this color combo (black with midnight blue leather ~ looks black) for 1999. It's got about 93,000 miles on the odometer (may vary, still driving daily) I've put a little over 15,000 miles on it in the roughly year I’ve owned it. If I still had access to a Jeep, the car wouldn’t be for sale. The car has only spent 1 winter here and has NO RUST (was washed weekly). The few years prior to my purchase were spent in New Jersey, and the majority of its life and location of delivery was in California. Selling dealer was Burlingame Ford in Burlingame, CA (near San Francisco). I am the 3rd registered owner to my knowledge, and know the 2nd owner. (I purchased the car from a middle man who bought and sold cars) This is a very fun, spirited car. In September it went on about a 1,500 mile trip from Meadville, PA to Sturbridge, MA via the Southern Tier Expressway. It was a very pretty and comfortable drive. No hiccups on the trip at all, and I clocked aprox. 28 MPG @ about 75mph! Car is very quick, with a 200hp 2.5L Dual Overhead Cam V6 and 0-60mph time of 6.8 sec. This beautiful motor is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It's fully loaded inside. Has power windows and locks, an AM/FM/CD player (ford's premium sound with factory amplifier), power driver's seat, and a nice sized power sun roof. I've maintained the vehicle since I purchased it. Oil changes were done aprox. Every 5,000 miles using only Mobil 1 5w30 Synthetic, and a Mobil 1 Synthetic fiber oil filter. Since I’ve owned the car, it's gotten a new Ford/Motorcraft fuel pump assembly (ford came out with an updated part/kit to address premature pump failure and in some instances slow fuel fill) and fuel filter (cost about $600 installed). It also received a new right front wheel bearing, and new Motorcraft rear brake pads. This is a great all around car. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, and like I said earlier, it breaks my heart to sell it, but it’s no longer practical for me, and I can't afford a second vehicle. My dog was in the car ONCE and ONCE ONLY (I had a quilted comforter over the back seat - still looks like new) and he just doesn’t fit with enough room...now to disclose existing known issues. The biggest is the manual transmission. when I purchased the car I was told it very rarely grinds when going into 1st gear and that it was probably a clutch adjustment...well it's a hydraulic clutch system...it's self adjusting..To me it could be a syncro (a little brass bushing inside the transmission that allows two gears to spin at the same speed when shifting gears) but I’ve read there is also an updated fluid for the transmission to address various concerns. Honestly it's pretty rare, and if it does grind, you can just shift it again and it will go right in. I've driven it over a year this way. The transmission does NOT need replaced by any means. It can easily be repaired by a transmission shop. The check engine light is on. The code stored is for EGR Valve insufficient flow. There is a service bulletin that explains carbon can build up and just needs cleaned. It’s easy to get to. I never bothered with it, because the car runs great and I'm not required to get an emissions test in my county. Other concerns are cosmetic. The car runs and drives great. In the pictures you will notice the left front has some bigger dents in it that are only noticeable in the right light. I don’t know for sure but the vehicle may have been in an accident in the rear. You will see in the pix the trunk lid appears bent in, but you honestly cannot tell unless you look from the side. Trunk lid still opens and closes normally. Lastly the shifter boot got ripped in a small spot. Everything else is good - does have normal scratches, etc. for an 11 year old car. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Ebay is legally binding and all sales are as-is and final. Minimum of $250 non-refundable deposit due via paypal within 48hours. Thank You, Chris
