Vehicle Detail

1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback 289 V-8 VIN# 5F09C762xxx Description: CLASSIC 1965 FORD MUSTANG 2+ 2 289 V-8 Fastback PROJECT from MustangBeginnings You are bidding on a 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. This Mustang is very complete, even the original radio is in the dash. It is the perfect project for someone that enjoys restoring a real Classic. It just needs a lot of love and time. With some Go Fast accessories, it would leave tire marks all the way down the street. The Mustang has its original matching numbers 289 V-8 engine and 3 speed C-4 automatic transmission. The car could easily be converted to a manual transmission if desired. We were about to begin restoration at Mustang Beginnings to fix the body on this Mach 1, but we thought maybe someone would like to do some of the work and save some money. If the car does not sell now, we will begin restoration as soon as the auction ends, and the price will be much higher when we are finished. BODY: The frame of this Mach 1 is in good condition and straight, which makes it a relatively easy car to restore. There is rust work needed in the normal places, floor pans, body panels, and around the rear quarters. The fenders and doors could be patched and the deck lid as well, but you may just want to replace them to save some time. The undersides of the doors are decent (mainly rusty in the lower front outside corners). The frame rails and torque boxes are in good shape and should not need replacing. The car has the original quarter panels. Doors and fenders also look original as well. If rust repair isn’t your thing, we are here to help at MustangBeginnings. Please give us a call at 831 594 2204 to ask any questions. We have the experience and the knowledge at MustangBeginnings to do the job properly. Original Color Although the door tag is missing, there are parts of the car that suggest that it was originally painted either Silver Blue Poly or Twilight Turquoise Poly - both beautiful colors, but Silver Smoke Gray Poly has a blue cast to it, and the car could have been that color. Since the door tag is missing, it is kind of your choice for the color. The seats are covered in their original blue vinyl, which supports any of alternative color possibilities, but of course, you can paint the car any color you like best. Please see the last picture to get an idea of how this original Muscle Car will look when finished. INTERIOR: Plan on the normal interior redo, but the good news is that you can see what is needed. You aren’t accepting someone else’s mistakes or bad repairs. All the wiring is in the car and seems to be in good condition. Dash is in good shape and comes with its original instrument panel, but the dash pad will need replacing or recovering. The seats will, of course, need to be reupholstered, and new carpet is needed as well. Door panels are there, but you probably want new ones anyway. The car has its original steering wheel [good for a core]. The car comes with its Front Bucket seats and rear bench seat in blue, which will need to be reupholstered if you are going for a concourse restoration. When fully restored, this 289 V-8 Mustang Fastback will easily sell for $45,000 to $50,000. ENGINE BAY: Engine bay is in great condition, and ready for cleaning and paint. The battery bay will need a little work but not much. The original 289 V-8 engine turns over, but doesn’t start. We would recommend a complete rebuild even if you do get it to fire up once again. We have local experts that can help you with the rebuilding of both the engine and transmission, but you may want to have the work done more local to you and get a local guarantee. Both Power Brakes and Power steering will make this an easy car to drive. GLASS: The Fastback also has good door glass and the 1/4 side glass is all there. The windows roll up and down. The car needs a new windshield but the rear window is in good condition. A concourse correct tinted windshield can be ordered for about $200. MISC. Mustangs were popular in 1965 and they still are today. The Mustang comes with head light buckets, seats, and most all of its parts. I have a couple of contacts for all the other NOS stuff you may need. I HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY! THERE ARE NO SURPRISES HERE, I ENCOURAGE ALL THOSE WHO BID TO COME SEE THE CAR FIRST IF POSSIBLE OR SEND SOMEONE HERE TO INSPECT IT. WE HAVE COMPLETED OTHER 65 MUSTANGS AND KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO COMPLETE THIS CAR. THIS IS A GOOD CAR TO START WITH. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A 65 MUSTANG THAT NEEDS TO BE REBUILT INTO SOMETHING SPECIAL. AGAIN, I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL BIDDERS TO CHECK THE CAR OUT IF POSSIBLE THAT WAY THERE ARE NO MISUNDERSTANDING, MISTAKES, MISCOMMUNICATION, AND ALL THE OTHER MISES. THE CAR MIGHT NEED THINGS I DID NOT LIST BUT THE MAJOR ONES HAVE BEEN LISTED. I PUT THE WORD PROJECT IN THE DESCRIPTION TO COVER ANYTHINGS I MIGHT HAVE NOT SEEN.
