1967 FORD GALAXIE 500 UP FOR AUCTION IS MY 1967 FORD GALAXIE 500 FASTBACK. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A FAMILY THAT OWNED THE CAR SINCE 1977. THE CAR I RESTORED IS THE “H” CODE BODY WITH A “Q” CODE DRIVELINE. I HAVE 2 TITLES, MARTI REPORT AND VERIFICATION FACTS TO COMPLETE THE STORY AND HISTORY OF THIS FINE CAR. THERE WERE ONLY 182 "Q" CODE 67 GALAXIES PRODUCED. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE SPRING, I MADE THE DECISION TO DO A FRAME OFF RESTORATION BECAUSE OF THE RARITY OF THE DRIVETRAIN AND A VISION OF HOW I COULD MAKE THIS CAR NOT ONLY UNIQUE BUT FUN AND EASY TO DRIVE. I HAVE DONE SEVERAL NUT AND BOLT RESTORATIONS, BUT THIS ONE WOULD PROVE CHALLENGING AND EXPENSIVE TO COMPLETE, HOWEVER, I LOVE THE RESULT AND HOPE YOU WILL TO. UP FOR YOUR INTEREST IS A 1967 FORD GALAXIE 500 FASTBACK 428, TRIPOWER, 4 SPEED TOP LOADER WITH A FORD 9 INCH 4:56 GEAR RATIO, ALL BUILT WITH POWER, TORQUE AND STRENGTH IN MIND. DETAILS BODY AND PAINT THE BODY WAS COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE FRAME, ALL PANELS WERE REMOVED AND CAR COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED. THE HEADLINER AND GATORGRAIN VYNAL TOP WERE NOT REMOVED DUE TO BEING REPLACED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND IN FINE SHAPE. ALL THE PAINTED FRAME, BODY AND MISC ITEMS WERE SENT TO A METAL CLEANING COMPANY FOR CHEMICAL REMOVAL OF ALL PAINT AND RUST. THE FRAME WAS PRIMED AND PAINTED CHASSIS BLACK, ALONG WITH ALL BRACKETS, SUSPENSION AND DIFFERENTIAL. THE ROOF AND QUARTER PANEL SECTION WAS CLEANED AND PRIMED IN HOUSE DUE TO THE VYNAL ROOF AND HEADLINER BEING RETAINED. THE ONLY RUST THAT THIS CAR HAD WAS IN THE REAR QUARTER PANELS BEHIND BOTH TIRES. THE DRIVER REAR QUARTER HAD A DENT ABOVE THE TIRE THAT I HAD PULLED AND BLOCKED BY MY BODY AND PAINT SHOP IN CHARGE OF THE PAINT AND BODY WORK ON MY PROJECTS. THE RUST REPAIR WAS ALL PERFORMED WITH METAL AND WELDED IN PLACE. AFTER ALL THE PIECES WERE RETURNED FROM METAL CLEANING, THEY WERE WASHED AND DRYED, PRIMED AND BLOCKED SEVERAL TIMES THEN SEALED AND PAINTED WITH 1999 FERRARI RED BASE AND CLEAR, COATED SEVERAL TIMES, SANDED AND POLISHED TO A BEAUTIFUL SHINE. I HAD 2 SMALL BLACK PIN STRIPES ADDED TO SHOW OFF THE GALAXIES BODY LINES. I REMOVED ALL BODY TRIM AND PLUG WELDED THE HOLES FOR THAT CLEAN FINISHED LOOK WHEN PAINTED AND ASSEMBLED. I LOVE THE RESULTS! THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BODY AND FLOORPANS WERE CLEANED AND DETAILED WITH A BLACK BEDLINER PRODUCT. THE ENGINE BAY WAS PAINTED AND DETAILED WITH CHASSIS BLACK TO SHOW OFF THE 428 TRIPOWER POWERHOUSE. THE TRUNK WAS CLEANED AND SANDED, PAINTED BLACK AND DETAILED WITH SPATTER PAINT, THEN CLEARED FOR PROTECTION. ALL NEW DOOR AND TRUNK SEALS WERE USED, NEW WINDOW SEALS AND SQUEEGES. I INSTALLED NEW BODY TO FRAME BUSHINGS AND HARDWARE WHERE AVAILABLE. ITEMS OF INTEREST NEW DOOR SEALS NEW WINDOW SEALS NEW EXT MIRRORS RECHROMED DOOR HANDLES NEW JAM TO CARPET TRIM RECHROMED FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS NEW BOLTS AND FASTNERS NEW 428 AND TRUNK EMBLEM RECHROMED TRUNK BEZEL NEW TRUNK SEAL NEW FORD HOOD EMBLEM RECHROMED TAIL LIGHT BEZELS ETC DRIVETRAIN THE ENGINE AND TRANS WERE REMOVED AND DISASSEMBLED. THE ENGINE IS A TRUE “Q” 428 FROM THE GALAXIE MATED TO A TOPLOADER 4 SPEED TRANS. THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD THE “A” SCRIBED IN THE REAR SECTION OF THE BLOCK FROM THE FACTORY CASTING. THE CYLINDER HEADS I DECIDED TO USE WERE LATE 60’S SUPER COBRA JET HEADS WITH THE LARGER INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES, 16 BOLT EXHAUST ATTACHMENT. ENGINE THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT BY FALL AUTOMOTIVE MACHINE HERE IN TOWN. I BOUGHT RECONDITIONED RODS, NEW 40 OVER PISTIONS AND RINGS, ALL NEW BEARINGS AND HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP, COMP CAMS THUMPER CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS, DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING SET, NEW WATER PUMP AND GASKETS. THE CRANK WAS TURNED AND THE ASSEMBLY BALANCED. THERE IS TO MANY ITEMS TO LIST. THE CYLINDER HEADS WERE CLEANED, NEW STAINLESS VALVES, HARDWARE, AND RACING SPRINGS INSTALLED . TRANSMISSION THE TRANSMISSION WAS CLEANED AND PAINTED, NEW TAIL SHAFT BUSHING AND SEAL, CORRECT COLOR SPEEDO GEAR FOR 456 RATIO, THE TRANS IS NOT ORGINAL TO THE “Q” CAR, HOWEVER VERY STRONG AND DESIRABLE. THIS TRANS IS A BIG IN AND BIG OUT TOPLOADER. THE SPLINE SIZE IS 1- 3/8 INCH. THE CORRECT SIZE FOR SOME BIG BLOCK APPLICATIONS AND DESIRABLE AMOUNG THOSE DRAG RACERS MAINTAINING GOBS OF TORQUE AND HORSEPOWER. SOME DRIPS APPEAR FROM TRANS AFTER DRIVING. THE DOOR PANELS AND ACCY’S ARE NICE AND ORIGINAL. THIS GALAXIE IS AN A/C CAR AND RETAINS ALL DASH COMPONENTS FOR AIR CONDITIONING. THE HEATER CORE AND EVAP CORE ARE INSTALLED, AC AND HEATER BOX, A/C VENTS AND ENGINE BAY COMPONENTS. TO FINISH THE A/C YOU WILL NEED CONDENSOR, COMPRESSOR, DRIER, LINES AND VACCUM SOURCE. I WILL INCLUDE THE COMPRESSOR BRACKETS AND VACCUM LINES, VENTS TUBES AND MISC ITEMS. I DID NOT INSTALL THESE FOR THE CLUTTER FACTOR.
