This is a one-owner, always garaged, low mileage (21K) Carrera Cabriolet in excellent condition. The owner is a Japanese academic and entrepreneur, who purchased it new in South Carolina in March 1990, when he was in business there. He returned to Japan in 2000, but left the car in storage in South Carolina, where it remained until this year, when it was shipped to New York. The owner is available to serious bidders by phone or email. The owner's California-based business partner—a close personal friend of mine—asked me to sell the car, on his behalf. I have been driving the car since early June, so far for about 1800 miles. Because the car had not been driven for much of the past ten years we were concerned it might develop oil leaks, and it was driven gently for the first 500+ miles. It has not developed any leaks and is tight as a drum! The car in now titled in New York in the original owner's name, and is registered and insured in my name. That ownership is documented by the original Warranty and Maintenance book and the South Carolina and New York titles. Service records are available from the date of delivery in 1990. A summary of those records can be emailed to serious potential buyers. Prior to being shipped to New York the Porsche specialist who had stored the car did extensive maintenance on the fuel system, including removing and cleaning the fuel tank, replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump, and rebuilding the fuel injectors, and installing new spark plugs. When the car arrived in New York a new set of tires was installed – Kuhmo Ecsta SPTs – and the oil was changed. The clutch was replaced in November. Equipped with the wonderful 3.2 liter 214hp flat-six engine and the 5-speed G50 transmission, the car is Guards Red with a black top and black interior, including black leather seats. Options include AC; power windows, power seats and power top; cruise control; Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette (here's the complete list of option codes: C02, 018, 158, 220, 243, 286, 288, 424, 439, 454, 474, 490, 494). Everything is original. The condition of the body, paint, engine, top, dash, interior and leather seats is essentially MINT, with some minor exceptions (pictured with this listing): small paint chips in both front wheel wells; a very small paint chip on the driver side rear quarter panel; a paint chip on the driver side door edge; several small holes in the interior top liner; fabric on lateral and vertical window seals is missing. A scuff and slight impression behind the passenger side headlight--caused by a brush against an Audi's rubber bumper--has been repaired with DentWizard and is virtually invisible (see last photo). This is a smoke-free car. The winning bidder may arrange for an inspection at his/her expense after making a deposit. The car is also available for viewing during the auction. The deposit can be made through PayPal, while final payment will be accepted via cashiers/bank check or Escrow.com. An in-person purchaser will have the option of paying with cash or a personal check drawn on a local bank (title will transfer when the check clears). Seller will help facilitate shipping arrangements made by the buyer. Seller will personally deliver the car within 500 miles of Albany NY (assuming the buyer wants those additional miles on the car).
