1976 Mercury

Up for bids I have my 1976 Merc Sno-twister drag sled. Overall the sled is in good shape and runs perfect. Sled has run at 1-2 radar runs per year over the last 10-12 years and always won its class. We have only run it on the ice. We haven’t run it the last 2 years and just don’t use it anymore so off it goes. It is ready to go. Nothing is required other than ice to run it today. I have pictures and a video below of when we last raced it. I will start at the front and work my way back. Skis are aluminum and in good shape. They have carbides on the front. Front steering is all original Merc as is the belly pan. Hood is also original. It has the original Merc Tach although I do not know if it works. There is also a temp gauge and EGT gauge. Handlebars are drag bars. Tank is original. Seat is a reproduction. Tunnel is original. Tunnel has some scars from racing but still looks/functions good. Flap is original. Has original Merc suspension but has been modified to keep skis down although they still some up about a foot and hold them til you get off the throttle. Track is original and studded. Studs should be sharpened or replaced but it can run as is. Now onto the best part: Original motor has been replaced with a Brad Hulings built Rotax 521. To say it runs strong is an understatement. It is arm stretching. Comes with mikuni flat slide carbs and custom pipes. It sounds great. It has (2) small radiators for cooling. Makes sleds with much higher displacement look sick. This is a fun package. I guarantee you will not be disappointed when you pull the trigger. Again overall it is in great shape and I have actually taken it to several vintage shows. Wanna go racing? Have some fun? Here ya go all in a very reliable package. I would be willing to split the motor and chassis apart if you wanted the rolling Merc chassis only. It would make a great vintage racer and these are fairly hard to find. Email me to discuss this option. I do have a reserve set but I can tell you its lower than I would ever thought I would go.
